Female 48 PCOS, insulin resistance, had gastric bypass 14 years ago but have gained back about 70% of the weight lost. I've been on Ozempic for a month now. The best way I can explain this experience is that is has quieted the overwhelming "chatter" in my head that drives me to constantly snack. I haven't had any reactive hypoglycemia attacks since I started and I feel normal. Yes, there were a few days of "don't trust a fart", but it has calmed down.
@DavidBrackett385

Did you have reactive hypoglycemia before you started this ozampic? If so did it stop the sugar lows?
@missycfrench
@missycfrench 2 жыл бұрын
@@DavidBrackett385 yes, HG is a common result of gastric bypass. I haven't had an episode at all. The combination of insulin resistance and gastric bypass creates a really unstable sugar situation. this has definitely made it better.

@@missycfrench wow that is awesome!!!!! I have been blessed with idiopathic reactive hypoglycemia since 2008 and I’m wondering if Ozampic would help me. I’m not smart enough to figure it all out lol.

If you are insulin dependent should you still take your daily insulin along with this once a week shot? Or will this shot replace the insulin all together?
@angelarobinson593
@angelarobinson593 2 жыл бұрын
It don't replace your insulin. It just helps your pancreas produce more insulin. So Yes you should take it on the same day.

Is Ozempic mainly for overweight Diabetics. I ask because every commercial I see it is obvious it is being marketed that way. How would taking this drug impact a Type 2 that is not overweight or inactive? losing weight for that person may not be in their best interest.

Very articulate video, thanks. I do have some questions though. In terms of pancreatic action, isn’t the increased levels of insulin produced naturally and probably more often by the body part of the reason why insulin receptors on cells become insulin resistant? And in that case isn’t it counterintuitive to be taking a medication to increase the insulin? Or is it the lesser evil as the goal is to get the sugar out of the blood no matter if it actually increases the potential for even more insulin cell receptor resistance. Secondly, in terms of food staying longer in the stomach, wouldn’t that increase or cause food to ‘rot’ in the stomach? And how does staying longer in the stomach affect stomach acid production? Is there more released? Could that be problematic? Third question, if you take a medication that is almost identical to a chemical already produced by the body, would the body stop producing that chemical as no need to anymore and when you finally stop taking the medication and it’s totally out your system in 5 weeks, would the body still be producing enough quantities of the chemical, or might there be a problem with even less being produced than before and so a potential for increased appetite and weight gain? Have been prescribed ozempic but unsure. Thanks

This pen did wonders for me no cravings no joint pain lost weight...I was on it for 5 weeks .25 for 4 weeks and .5 on the 5th week, until I developed acute pancreatitis, I was placed on flagyl and now I am fine however, the weight is creeping up again and the cravings....I never suffered from pancreas issues....I am wondering if the dose was too much....I wonder if I can reduce the dose ....I hate that this has happened to me it was working so nicely😩😩...is there anything else that can help my insulin resistance 😩😩😩😩 or is it the GLP-1 that is the issue? Thank you Dr.
