Don't forget that just because a relay clicks doesn't mean it works. A Dorman part that broke I'm shocked. It did surprise me to see the ACDelco was made in Italy. Thanks for the video.

Good video, I'm having similar but more complex issues and after replacing the fuse box that a mechanic diagnosed incorrectly I realized there is still no power to my fan relays or fan fuses so I am suspect my ecm is bad. I already replaced the ignition switch because it also stalls out after running fine for about 1 or 2 minutes.

If you have a wiring diagram you can test you can find out which is powers and grounds. And by turning on the ac ( if the ac system is working properly you. An test to see if it’s working

Great job! Can I ask you for some insight? 13' malibu 2.5l. AC compressor kicks on but blows warm air. Cooling fans don't come on. Are the cooling fans suppose to come on immediately when the AC compressor engages? I replaced relays and both coolant temp sensors (rad+ t-stat). Will test for power to the fans. Question: Will faulty fans cause AC to blow warm?

Nice. I have a 2016 Chevy Sonic and having this same issue. But periodically it will kick on and go off. No A/c or heat. I live in WI so if the heater doesn't work when it gets cold that is going to be a really big issue. I need my defroster to work when my windows get all iced up.

@@thefourlaws Honestly, I have no idea. I'm taking it in to get looked at and fixed soon cuz I live in WI and it's gonna get COLD here real soon n I need my defroster to work! I'm hoping it's just a blown fuse for the fan motor or something simple cuz I can still feel heat coming out of my vents but the fan doesn't come on at all anymore to blow the heat out.

Well, I learned something new , thanks .. I thought if it works on high, it can't be the fan ? I guess I was wrong again , well the resistor , same difference. I would have missed the resistor till I removed the fan to change , but I think I would have missed the diagnosis altogether, really , so i never would have yried the fan ?

So for a temporary fix could you just wire it so the high speed is always used. Sure the fan would probably go bad faster , but it's junk anyways.

Oz i know you made this a few years ago.but ive got an old 2002 vw passat 2ltre petrol (one 2 speed electric fan) fan works fast speed direct wired direct to battery but never kicks in with temperature or with Ac on.all cencors relays fuses & resistor pack been replaced. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

It would be nice if you could just purchase the fan resistor and not the whole fan . I’m not sure if that’s offered as replacement part though . This was a excellent diagnostic video I will be subscribing to your channel. Thank you for the video

Fan resistor is probably not sold individually but you can definitely substitute one in if you know the required specs(something that can handle 12v and flows enough current)

Just went through this. You cannot buy just the resistor for the sonic, you can find one for the Chevy Cruise but not sonic. I had to buy the entire assembly for the resistor

@Oz Mechanics Hey i really like your video! I have a 2016 Chevy Sonic, and when i have the ac ir heat on and the blower on full blast, no air comes out of the vents. When i step on the gas, sometimes air comes through but its low. When i park the car for the night and wake up the next day and turn the car on, air comes on full blast like it should but then eventually it gets low, then cuts off completely. I don't know what it could be. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Thanks...my issue is that both push (AC) and pull (coolant) fans come on with high coolant temp...however th AC fan doesn't come on with the AC...everything else works.....ant thoughts....thank you

Hey there, thanks for the video. My AC works only on highway or after a long hour drive. It turns out that my radiator fan doesn't turn on when I turn on the AC in idle or when I do short drives. At the same time, it turn on whan on long drives. What is the issue with my radiator fan? Why does it only turn on when engine is so hot? Thank you

I have a 2008 dodge caravan. The AC system will trigger the fan to start when the High side refrigerant pressure exceeds 240 psig. Thus, when idling in traffic, when you need AC the most, the cooling fan cycles with refrigerant pressure and engine coolant temperature. Supposed to be an energy conservation measure. Wish I could change it so that the cooling fan runs whenever the compressor is running which I think is the case with most car AC systems. But its in the programming logic...

Would this cause the A/C to not get cold AT ALL? I vacuumed the system, put 20oz's of Freon in, the compressor turns on now but no A/C. The one AC line doesn't even get chilly AND the fan doesn't turn on. Do you know if the A/C will work without the fan turning on? The AC clutch does engage. (Anyone - please) We need help, it's hot and we can't take the baby out.

I changed my cooling fan with a new ac Delco. Still no luck. I checked all of my relays with the 9v method all works. I checked all of my fuses. Everything is good but still the fan does not spin when I turn on the ac. It blows hot air.

Hey True Saiyan whenever the fan is not working you will notice the ac only working while driving higher speeds. It’s because the condenser is getting cooled down by ram air. Hope this helps

@@OzMechanics Oz Mechanics, it does thank you. I will be doing the some trouble shooting tomorrow morning. I replaced the pressure sensor, condenser and the expansion valve. But didn't fix the problem The ac would turn on every 10 min. But friday i went on a long drive on the freeway and it was working just fine but later in the day it stopped working entirely. Now it wont even turn on even on its tem minute interval.
