That was just a prediction by the reporter. Of course there's no LA team in the AFL, but the Brisbane Bears (now Lions) did make it to the 2003 Grand Final and it was played at the MCG.

I think he has an unrealistic view of afls future popularity, its also an old video, id say the bears hadnt played a game yet.

Brisbane Bears were in their first season in the VFL. The VFL was somewhat exploring the possibilities in the future of having a team from overseas (such as Los Angeles) playing Australian Football in its biggest competition. It was a hypothetical scenario, the reporter was suggesting.

Fox Footy aired this (the ABC) telecast of the 1987 VFL Grand Final about a decade ago. Beyond that, it seems lost to history. I hope oztiger is able to remedy that ...
