The tricky part with budget builds is to get the maximum value/$ on the long term, not buy too cheap and have to upgrade earlier or buy too expensive and have more than what you really need but still upgrade at the same time in the future. That is a very tricky balance, it depends on hardwaredevelopment, price-development and game-development.

A power supply that I like lately is the Thermaltake Smart BM3 650W, the price is higher, $60 to $70, it gives a little more headroom for future upgrades and is a semi-modular design with all black cables. @@nikolassovtich1309Yeah like I'd recommend anyone try and get a 700w if they can, IF they was planning to keep it and upgrade the thing in a few years. You pretty much can't do that without either getting a lower end part with low power draw or having to upgrade PSU and let me tell you changing out power supply is one of the biggest hassles, only replacing the motherboard is a bigger pain in the ass and not by much. You typcially want only one PSU in the life of the PC even a very high end one. It's a hassle and money you never needed to spend, so try and make that last. 650w should be plenty for most GPUs, and I doubt anyone is buying a 4090 or 7900XTX if they're starting with a 500$ minmax build. 500w is fine for lots of parts but if it's on Intel you may run into power problems when trying to fit power budget into an i7+new GPU. Ryzen is super good for that reason, it's so power efficient.

As somebody who daily drives a Ryzen 5 5500 and an RX 7600, you're the only person I've seen online who doesn't just blatantly disregard and instead push people to go for the higher binned 5600G or 5600. it's a truly great processor for when it just fits your budget. Thanks Oz! You're the best at these videos, and I find that watching your builds is often so relaxing. Edit: also really dig your choice of background music!

Meh. For a few dollars the 5600 really is worth it. You get slightly better clocks, more L3 cache which can affect gaming performance, and the PCI 4.0 support is good for the Arc and RDNA 2 cards (RX6600).

The thing to remember with the b350/450 and a320/520 motherboards is that you don't get Gen 4 support, only Gen 3. So either go for the Gen 3 nvme(slighty cheaper also) or get the non-wifi Gigabyte B550M DS3H(which in the UK is the same price as the b450 wifi). Also not having Gen 4 support effects the performance of some low end gpus(rx6400/6500xt/etc).

I got some old office desk terminal/PC husks with power bricks already in them; put the screws, spacers, and studs I wanted to use with the upgraded motherboard, flipped it over and put a tiny dot of epoxy on each stud end, set it in the case and waited for the epoxy to cure enough to pull the screws, removed motherboard and added more epoxy (metal epoxy, like JB Weld [not an affiliate] is what to use), let it cure, rebuilt system. Very quiet, very cheap, tiny footprint, fun to build and not too hard - since every motherboard comes with the back metal plate to pop in, a dremel type tool to cut out the opening after tracing the plate is also quick (choose the right dremel blade, or if you have a keyhole/scroll saw that also works easy) and everything fits.

+1 for the observation. GPU in Hogwarts is showing only 70ish % utilization. The Ryzen 5600 (x or non x are very close in performance) is only about $120 on Newegg. The 5600G is NOT a good alternative (the G has less cache). 5600(x) has higher clock speed then the 5500 and more cache which would help keep data flowing to the GPU. It's also possible that using a PCIE Gen 3 slot might be contributing to the issues? (hint hint...possible video comparison topic...) Good news is that this build would give great service, while you kept an eye out for a screamin' deal on a B550/5600 or better GPU combo.

W build and it looks so aesthetic for the price! Honestly I may be biased because I love all-black builds. I just recently did an all-black build on my channel and it turned out quite well too. Keep up the great content man :)

Imo if you're building with AM4 you want to have at least a Zen 3 processor since it will be the final upgrade path of AM4. But I think the Ryzen 5600 will make the price went up over the $500 price limit. Still a worthy spending though

genuine G, i love your aesthetic although i just built an insane computer hosting a ryzen 7 7800x3d, 4060ti, 32gb of ram something about your thumbnail was just so clean, i love this aesthetic and it gives bob ross vibes, keep it up and i appreciate you helping out people with not as much money to spend on a good starting rig!

Gotta say, for the price you managed to build that thing, that's pretty sweet. $500 would hardly net you a PS5 or XSX, and this thing can do much more than a console. Nicely done. 🍻

This is why I find the pricetag of modern consoles so absurd. You can build something a lot better with less, if you're just willing to do some research and use your head. My setup is by no means cheaper, sitting at around $1,500, but it started out at almost half that. Definitely worth saving that money.

This is a great list! I'm currently compiling a parts list for my partner's little brother to build him a PC using my last PC's case and motherboard left over. My list is coincidentally nearly identical to your's, with an Arc A580 and Ryzen 5 5500 being the main features. These seem like great options for his needs and while it's still a budget build, it certainly isn't going to keep him from some graphic heavy single player games at 1080p. Thanks for the video!

Some other things to note, that motherboard only has 1 chasis fan header, so you will need that included splitter. Also the included fans are voltage controled 3 pin fans, be sure to change that setting in the bios.

This was the video of yours I watched. Going to watch a few more, and if they’re all as epic as this part-ASMR, part techspert showing, consider me a new subscriber. Someone else made a comment that you’re like the Bob Ross of pc builders and that is absolutely accurate, and probably the highest compliment one can attain 😅

With the IO shield you don't need to place it on the IO of the motherboard before installing, you can snap in the IO Shield to the IO cut out of the case and then align the motherboard with the standoffs which should alight the IO with the cutouts in the shield.

🙂 he just wanted to make sure he didn't install it upside down, so thats why he place it on the motherboard temporarily, but yeah like u said he then went on and placed the shield into the case first, he just didn't film it

For $510 and new parts, it is hard to argue that that is a GREAT low cost build. Good video. My pc is $1500 with a $300 monitor, but that is just a mid level gaming pc. For someone just trying to get into pc gaming , videos like this are a great help, so they can game and have some starting point. PC gaming builds can be expensive, so people have to set a limit and see what they can get for the money. I do not go super high end, just a mid level pc. Then I save $20 per months for upgrades in the future. That is $240 per year or $960 every 4 years for upgrades. I basically think a basic gaming pc should be a minimum of $800 to $1000 as a base price, but I am amazed of how good that pc is for the price. You can game on his $510 pc for most games up to 2023. That gpu is about 15 percent faster than a 1600 ti gpu. That build will get you started, then add more storage space or a better gpu later. I liked this video.
