I love your version as much as I love Brian Cranston's. You read the poem in such an authentic and unique way! I feel the sadness of what was so once prominent and believed to last forever now being gone.

This poem is beautiful, but used to fill me with existential dread. But as a historian & an Old, now I see how little we know, and how easily one can be lifted into public history for a time, even if one thinks their life was boring. All our power & stuff & machinations will fade and be useless, but the past is never truly forgotten.

Ozymadias too fell to the hands of Past. But the unknown sculpture still pass through the past, present and probably in the futures

This is a beautiful take. I read in a book once that the aged of us, should not envy the young. For those of us who have lived longer lives are richer in experience, which is a wealth that can never be lost. It is frozen in time. Accessible, only to us, through our memories. To me this is the opposite of existential dread, it’s existential delight.

I think that's why so many people still love this poem - it's as resonant today as it way then!
