Very good and in-depth story about the Nelson family. I never knew that 3 generations had a number 1 hit on the billboard charts! That’s a real achievement.

Her father was all for it, too. It was a different time then. When people say they want to go back to the "good old days" I think of all the things that they are forgetting because it wasn't a good time for everyone.

I anf my twin was born in 1960 to a unmarried 18 year old. Our father had already gotten someone else pregnant and married her. I won't bore you with all the horrified things we went thru once we were placed in state care. State finally placed us up for adoption because we almost died thru abuse and n e glect. Today it happens time and there is more help for single mothers 👩. She became an alchoholic and a drug addict her whole life . She died of cancer.. my adoptive mother s e nt flowers to her memorial. We had half bro t her and sisters and aunts. We had a good life v with my mother and father 👨. Th ank god.

I only know about Ricky and they were way before my time. I met Ricky when I was eighteen! He was forty and looked sixteen. We took Rick for good Oklahoma steak. I never met a more thoughtful guy. He always jumps to open a woman’s door. You can tell Ozzie raised his boys right! My older friend was crazy to meet Rick and talked me into going to Rick’s concert. It was a sea of thirty something women and me! Can you guess what happened? Yes Ricky spent most the night trying to woo me. He might still look sixteen but I was very aware he was forty. Ricky was a sweetheart. His life was very tragic.

I heard this story before, what's the saying? Never Judge A Book By It's Cover. That works for Good and Bad 😮 whatever helps you sleep 😴 at night... too bad Ozzie felt he had to resort to hiding Kristens Pregnancy and pretending his Granddaughter Tracy was born premature, that's just a Devious thing to do!!!

That's what people did back then. It was considered shameful to have a child out of wedlock. If they hadn't married, the daughter would have probably gone away to secretly have the baby and it be given away for adoption.

It was that time in America. EVERYTHING had to be covered up. They ALL did it ! Today, a girl can get a career on being unwed and pregnant !
@katharinelockhart2637Ай бұрын
It was a different era. My mother-in-law wanted my husband and Into say the same thing. And that was 10 years after Ozzie wanted to cover up his daughter-in-law’s pregnancy. You just can’t know what it was like back then.

They should have written it in as a storyline on the tv show.

😅😅 there would be only one sponsor, the network promoting the Flintstones, Donna Reed Show and you see where I'm going with this.

No wonder the TV show was never top in the ratings. Ozzie couldn’t act and the storylines were boring…another fantasy family without even a toe in reality. I only watched because Ricky was cute and had a nice singing voice. I saw him perform years later at Lupos Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI. He was still cute and his voice was still smooth.
