Another Beautiful Bountiful Harvest at the Farm! So nice to see the gorgeous yard and your "SquaRsh" looks wonderful -- "Butter nut" give them all away, 'cause I LOVE them! Looking forward to seeing your garden again, "next year."

Ive nnever grown Butternut squash. Always wondered what it taste like. U say U slice and fry them. What about the rind? Aint it on the tough side? How thick u slice them? I grow egg plant and spagatee squash, cukes and Zukes. U mention cutting your finger off and playing guitar. I was in a R&R band from 58 to 63. We had played Crying in the Chaple before Elvis brought iut out as someone else had origionally brought it out years before Elvis did. But in 82 at work I cut off 1/2 of my L index finger and 1/3 of the one next to my little finger, but they sewed it back on. Doc didnt want to, but I said, One a day is enough. Doc said it woulkd rot and hed have toi take it off anyway. I said, we ll wait and see. Been OK ever since, but like you, it ended my guitar playing. I do play harmonica, and played organ and piano at my church for around 25yrs till I moved. IF U KNOW, how big are your gardens? I have just one, 150X55. Are u outa livestock altogether? Im down to a doz chickens and 3 cats lol

You do have to peel butternut squash. The rind is very tough but that's what helps them keep in the cellar so well. They taste very sweet like pumpkin but just a little more savory. We kinda eat them like you might eat a sweet potato as a side with our meals. I shouldn't have said I cut my finger off. It was a deep little cut, all healed up now. I know folks too who've lost fingers and I kinda regret making a joke out of my stitches. But it did make it hurt pretty bad to play guitar for a few weeks. Good thing you had the doctor sew it up. Boy I bet that wasn't a fun thing to go through. I had an accident with my right eye a couple years back. Made for a lot of doctoring. You started in a band in 1958, gosh that's very close to the same time I started playing gigs with my dad. We'd play old time. He'd play fiddle, I'd play guitar. A little later in high school I'd play a little rock and roll for the sock hops but more country and old time for me. Good for you to play for your church all those years. I don't do that but I do go with an accordion player and travel around to the local nursing homes and play. Are you pretty good at harmonica? I learned it just enough to add it to a few songs when I was playing in the bands a lot, but nothing too special. The one garden is I think about 50x100 and the other is a little smaller if I remember right. We used to do a lot more but this is all we care to do at our age with the other things we have going on. That's a nice plot you have then, impressive. We're all done with livestock over here. Actually have been for quite a while.
