I agree, thermal imaging is expensive any way you look at it, but it certainly is handy, and if you buy something this, Leopold (Nioa) have a good name, they’ll look after you if you have any dramas. I had issues with a scope, and they went above and beyond to help me out, I can’t speak any higher of them. Great review Ozzie, cheers mate! 👍

I live 2 hours from the leupold factory. I. Oregon it RAINS A LOT, it's cold and got (humid). They make awesome optics, and their warrente is outstanding. If you buy a busted used leopold. They will replace it with a current production model. My old range finder died after 6 years. they gave me their NEW top of the line to replace it. Leupold is worth every penny.

30mm would fit common scope rings but I think this is not rated for the shock of firearm operation. I suspect this is meant for preliminary testing and they will be moving into that space. They already make fine conventional rifle optics.

Hey ozzie you were correct; youtube has unsubscribed your channel from my subscription list. This is BS as you are competent and fully law abiding in your videos, reviews and information output. You are pro safety, pro lawful and responsible use and ownership. For the rest of you OR fans, keep checking and resubscribing as youtube is anti gun and is attempting to interfere with OR broadcasts, videos and content. 🤜

Hi Ozzie, can you make a video of this during day light. Is it capable of picking game during the day?
@cristianenache87155 жыл бұрын
Light is irrelevant. The temperature of the surroundings is relevant. During the day, the ground may be hotter so the animals won't stand out that much, if at all.
@xjd02 жыл бұрын
will this be useful for spotting a grouse?
@Dmmartin1414 жыл бұрын
And it’s LIGHT! Try carrying around and scanning a thermal scope mounted on a rifle for more than a few minutes! It WILL wear your arms, shoulders and lower back out quickly!
@michaelenochs40332 жыл бұрын
So it looks like 300 yards is kind of hitting the edge of this devices capabilities. Is that a fair assumption? I'm looking for something that can pick up at 1,000 yards or less.

For that sort of money Ozzie, I would expect it to work correctly straight out of the box instead of having to muck around with settings. Just my opinion. Great review though mate.
@stuartschindler94355 жыл бұрын
I’m not super familiar with these systems but I think they have all these settings so that you can optimize the camera for a wide variety of situations. Variations in day, night, ambient temp, distance, and cover are all going to affect the settings required for best results let alone personal preference. It’s be disappointing to pay all that money for a camera that only works in specific conditions, like nighttime with a low ambient temperature. Plus I imagine you would become more familiar and efficient with the settings with practice. An example, expensive dslr cameras have a ton of different settings, yes they have those automatic point and shoot modes but do they give you a better photograph than if you truly knew how to dial in the settings manually yourself.

I don’t know. Tracking at 75 yards seems shifty. God forbid you end up in an engagement, most of them take place at 300 yards. You might need something more high powered.

Victoria Shooters - Please be aware that it is an offense to posses such item like this when in possession of a firearm in recognized deer habitat etc. Know this simply from passing through state forest with a ATN Thor 4 Thermal Optic equipped to my Tikka T3x 204ruger on my way to private property when I was intercepted. I was summoned to attend court on the basis of possess "Artificial Light" within a Deer Habitat etc, However due to the circumstances of the firearm being securely locked in the rear of the 4x4. These were all dropped. Please be mindful of where and how you use items like this. Cheers.
