First Glen, I want to apologize for not seeing this video until now. I don't get any notifications from you and a slew of other channels that I'm subscribed to. It's been awhile since I heard from you and visited your channel and I see this is one I didn't see. You did a great job in removing the valve cover although I think I would done a far bit of cussing just removing all that crap covering it up. Great point about putting some RTV where the timing chain cover meets the head. And keep up the good work! I'll be looking for more content from you and don't work too hard! Have a great day!

I have the same problem on my 2010 Chevy Malibu , What did you use to clean the alternator and belt? Do you recommend using stop leak after replacing the valve cover gasket?
@ozzstars_cars5 ай бұрын
Just a little bit of brake clean and a clean rag. Replace the belt. I never use stop leak.

Having watched this it made me wonder how much more needs to be removed to change the timing chain. Is there also a timing chain underneath the rear valve cover? Ours rattles for a few seconds when starting the engine. We have more than 200k miles on the car
@ozzstars_cars5 ай бұрын
Common issue, the timing chain tensioner wears out, causes slack until oil pressure pumps it back up. Yes both banks have a chain to turn the camshaft sprockets.

@@ozzstars_cars It looks like a much more complicated repair job than I am capable of - largely a factor of tools and patience. Probably not worth spending the money to have the dealer do it - 5 or so years ago they said it would be more than the car was worth and they'd rather sell us a new car!
