Watch Ozzy in awe as he listens to a Randy Rhoads solo found on the master tapes for the 1st time, 30 years after it was made. The solo is available as RR on the Blizzard of Ozz 30th Anniversary Expanded Edition (bit.ly/kLTZjG) as well as the both solo on cd as well as this video footage being available in the Blizzard of Ozz / Diary if a Madman Collectors Box Set (myplay.me/5ia)

There's a very famous bootleg recording of Quiet Riot playing "Laughing Gas" where Randy has an extended solo, and he plays it in that as well. I remember downloading it off napster back when I was a teenager and burning it onto a cd along with a bunch of other classic metal, then every night before bed I'd turn out all the lights and put my headphones on and close my eyes and just listen to that CD. I can still remember the track list - Laughing Gas was the 3rd song, after Tornado of Souls and Seasons in the Abyss.

XD 4 seconds of playing this "joke" were enough and Ozzy was pissed off. Of course Randy was a pro guitar master and turned Ozzy's mood. This was what i thought, till the end of this clip. The one to his right wanted to declare. :) At the end he proudly said: "...and you listen that, that nobody has heard in 30 years.??. To Ozzy it was enogh again and straight he answered " I've never heard that" and the clip is over :D :D To me the answer was correct, because Ozzy didn't agree with this "Joke" and with the one to his right, maybe... and related to the "30 years" Ozzy's answer was true again (this solo was lost till this clip was made, so how could Ozzy ever hear it? And by the way Randy was the first, that has heard it. So it's difficult to say " that nobody has heard for 30 years" :D But it doesn't really matter, because after that Ozzy surely became happier again. Reasons could be : 1. no talk about something, that Ozzy should know better 2. Time to improve his drug level 3. Time to improve his drug level and last but not least Number 4 : Time to improve his drug level. Hahaha, nice clip!

Almost 10 years later I come back and still see the jokes. Yeah, as he got older he might have gone off the rails, but watch the comments change after his eventual passing. All I see is a man who misses his friend, and hearing something new is like hearing his voice again. That's what music is, and it proves it stays no matter how far you've gone...or maybe this is why he's further gone that it sticks with you all these years.

I had to think of the old story that Steven Tyler was so wasted on drugs in the 70s and early 80s that he can't remember making certain Aerosmith records and allegedly once suggested in the mid-80s that the band should cover a song he had heard on the radio and really liked only to be told "It's us fuckhead!" At least he seems to like his own style.

justin kasey Ozzy himself did say that Randy Rhoads wanted to move on because he had classical guitar goals in mind. Randy got tired of getting up on stage and playing the same rock songs over and over again. He felt restrained. So Randy would work on his goals when he had the time, while Ozzy and the rest of the gang would go out and party at a bar. However, that says nothing about what their relationship status was like. Randy really did like and have a lot of respect for Ozzy. Randy was also appreciative of the opportunities that Ozzy gave him. When Randy had made the decision to quit the band, it was not for any personal reasons. He wanted to quit so he can pursue other opportunities that laid before him.

It would have been amazing to have seen what Randy would have produced after his work with Ozzy. One of the most spectacular soloists to ever pick the strings! I have practiced his 'Crazy Train' solo thousands of times and still need to practice to achieve the speed and clarity that shines on this brilliant track. I know there are far more guitarists now a days who are just as good, if not better guitarists, but this was back in the late 70's, early 80's. And the fact remains that he was ready to move on to conquer new styles and techniques with his guitar playing. Let's not forget he passed at the young age of 26... Holy Shit! R.I.P Randy Rhoads, You will always be missed, remembered and never forgotten. Thanks for the music. Cheers!

Muhammad Irsyazman, thats kinda disrespectful of you. You could totally tell he still misses Randy. He looked like he was gonna cry halfway through. Besides, Ozzy isnt all fried anymore. He was like that for awhile (like during "The Osbournes") because they had him chucked full of medication to make him "behave himself". But he finally said "Im dont want this shit anymore." and stopped taking the meds.

0:45 it was at this moment, Ozzy recognized he was listening to the legendary, Randy Rhoads

It must have been very bittersweet for Ozzy to hear his young, vibrant friend and bandmate energetically smashing that solo, given how very young he was when he died. You can tell it's hard for him to listen to it because at 0:35 he makes a couple of whining noises like he's close to breaking down... so sad!

Randy Rhoads was a monster on guitar!!!! 😊☺🙂 Hearing his unaccompanied soloing or his guitar playing in general always and to this day still puts a smile on my face!!! Imagine when Ozzy first heard Randy play at his audition for the Ozzy gig!!! I would be blown away!!! Too!!!😊 Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen were like emerging super stars in the late 70s and early 80s!!!! It was like golden age of guitar super heroes or something!!!😊🙂☺😄😃

i saw the blizzard of ozz tour in august 1981 with randy rhoad's on guitar, kick ass show with def leppard opening up the high and dry tour. i also saw the diary of a madman tour ten days after rhoad's passed with bernie torme on guitar, torme only played seven shows with ozzy, i saw that concert twice in the same week...

torme was great, he had his own band in england called bernie torme and the electric gypsies, i had a import single of his band before i saw him, my friend and i seemed to be the only people that knew who he was, he looked like rhoad's, so some idiots didn't even know it wasn't. bitter sweet show, still great but you know what i mean. i saw almost everyone in the 80s, saxon's denim and leather tour in february 1982, van halen's fair warning tour in 1981, i saw metallica kill em all tour in 1983 at a small club with 100 people there, that was cool, saw accept balls to the wall tour in 1984, on and on, great times....,

Randy had more to live...he had one of rare sounds in the guitar no ordinary guitarist can make...
@jaybirdk7416

He had a rather stock guitar tone, really (let's see Ed-what's his-name do that without the "brown sound"), and most of his stuff was cranked out via the cream-colored Les Paul through a Marshall. Again, stock equipment. Effect pedals? Right again...straight-outa-the-box store bought. The only "special" weapon in Randy's arsenal was a V-shaped axe, courtesy of Karl Sandoval. Yes, that black number with the white polka dots, and bow tie inlays on the neck. Nothing special about the pickups, either. Influences would be the usual Clapton-Beck-Page trifecta, as well as the likes of Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple and Glen Buxton from the original Alice Cooper Band. You're right about the "rare sound", so this ain't no argument! I guess the rare sound was in the fingers after all (I should imagine his strings were stock product, as well).
