@@BogeyBoys28 this was never a criminal trial, where innocent until proven guilty would actually apply. This was a civil lawsuit against Amber Heard for defamation of character for saying he was an abuser when in fact she herself was the abuser. Justice has been served. Amber Heard is about to face a post-trial apocalypse of her life and she definitely deserves it.

hearing every single juror go "yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, no (for ONE cause on Heard's claim), yes, yes" and the look on her face MMM so satisfying. Never pull a jury when you've already heard their UNIANIMOUS VOTE. That was the whole thing with VA-in Virginia the jury HAS to be unanimous.

If you're really a victim of abuse, this case should give you hope. Even the ones who hardly have a voice can have that. Like she said, who is going to believe you..a man.. is a victim of domestic abuse. To everyone watching with an open mind, the way Amber was trying to pull off a character who was abused, was clearly the work of an actor who never felt what that was like. Throughout the case, she displayed an air of bravado thinking that she was succeeding in pulling the wool over everyone's eyes. To be a manipulator is one thing, to be bad at it is laughable. And that's what happened here. It was sweet justice served on a silver platter.

I followed the case because I'm a survivor who just couldn't bring herself to ever believe Amber. From the first, I was skeptical. She kept trying to prove her story was true over the years but every word that came out of her mouth made it worse. I fought back against my abuser in the end. I'm childhood I wasn't allowed to flee from dv, so my response became freeze. But you can't freeze when you're being hurt and controlled over and over and over, it's a matter of survival to find the fight in you. The trial reassured me. She set women back, but she did give abused men a voice.

The stuff on recordings of him was like an echo of a dim and distant past for myself (I absolutely recognise the pleading cajoling tone trying to get her to not go nuts in his recordings). I was sick at the thought of her getting away with it even more by winning. However now that Depp has won, I'm disgusted seeing the press STILL side with her and saying stuff like Depp won by doing DARVO. Wow. Automatically treating him as the actual abuser. There's been a segment of the press doing that all the way and they're absolutely not going to relent now it seems. That angers me. "Believe her" angers me because it removes any agency from male survivors of DV. Ramble over.

One thing is clear, if you want to tell the truth and you're telling the truth 1. you don't need to act overly emotional and do a fucking show, you can just tell the truth and answer the questions and if you're emotional most people just restrain themselves or become emotional at times like Johnny not all the time 2. you don't need to take notes the whole trial to tell the truth so

Agreed 💯 part of what bothered me about her testimony was how she would go from super emotional to nothing as soon as there was an objection and then right back to super emotional when she was allowed to speak again. Sometimes she would come back on the same exact word she left off on. It looked like the behind the scenes of a law movie rather than an actual case.

@-carnifex- it was televised but what the jury saw wouldn't have changed, how amber lied countless times and how she was exposed. public or television didn't decide who won, the jury did, and that's what the justice system is in the US so stop complaining about the justice system. It's awful as a man watching the news about this trial and being worried that, despite an airtight defence, Depp might lose. All the people whining that this is detrimental to the plight of female abuse victims, need to view this from a guy's perspective, because to me this shows that domestic abuse towards men isn't just overlooked like it has been for decades. I know it happens less than towards women, but it does happen and those men are ridiculed and dismissed, so it was great to see this

Actually it’s a lot more common than people accept or want to believe. The early study by Strauss, Steinmetz, and Gelles which was the source of “every 15 seconds” is actually a cherry picked statement. The rest of the sentence is “and a man almost as often.

You mean it’s reported less. When someone as famous as Johnny can say he was abused get left on the defensive all trial and even after the case news articles say his win was a loss for survivors, it’s hard for most men to even try saying they were abused. And that’s before social stigma.

I called 999 (UK emergency) and it was almost laughed off until the operator heard "I am going to f....ing kill you"... When the Police arrived the door was needing replacing, I had three cracked ribs but she was let go as it was a "misunderstanding"... this was 1997. Domestic violence both mental a physical is not gender biased... hopefully this trial opens more eyes to that.

In the US with 50 different states, 50 different State Court systems and 50 different sets of state laws the camera will be allowed in the Courtroom some states and not others; it may be allowed at certain levels of court and not in others (for example Appeals). @cisium1184
@cisium1184 2 жыл бұрын
Innocence pending proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt applies to criminal cases, wherein the court would order a convicted defendant to be punished by the state. If the Commonwealth of Virginia were prosecuting Amber Heard for abusing Johnny Depp, with the goal of sending her to prison, that would be a criminal case. This is a civil case, a dispute between two private citizens for which the court would order a losing defendant to pay money to a victorious plaintiff for the monetary value of damage done. The standard in such cases is merely that a jury must be convinced that one side or the other's version of events is more likely than the other to be the true one. Because again, no one is losing his freedom over this case, merely being ordered to compensate another for damage they are found to have caused. All of that being said, when we hear on the news that someone is accused of doing something that would be punishable as a crime, our sense of justice should dictate that we not assume that person did the thing he or she is accused of until it is proven beyond a reasonable doubt - or at least until we learn that he or she will not be prosecuted at all for it.

I really, really hope that Johnny Depp has enough strength to take her to court for domestic abuse. As a survivor and a woman, I think it would do so much for all the men who are victims and are stopped from seeking justice.

This was a big moment for domestic abuse victims, it just wasn’t a woman and they don’t like that. Some people don’t want to admit that men can victims of domestic violence.

shows that false accusations only hurts the real victims... women as well as men need to be held accountable when making false statements, accusations or falsified charges

The fact so many people allow themselves to be captivated by such mindless celebrity drama is just a glaring symptom of humanity's failure as a species.

I love when people say this sets women back. If you think about it, what they’re saying is that the truth sets women back. I’m not sure that’s a message they want to send.
