To all the haters...this kid is playing homage is his guitar hero...he never claims to do anything but that. Leave him alone. As far as Zakk ..like him or hate him..he has his own style and put a strong imprint on all of Ozzy's music of the past and present. And for that, thank you Zakk Wylde.

This is great, man. Everything is clean and on time, not rushed as most covers of BATM are. As for playing Zakk's instead of Jake's version, EVERYONE except Jake E. Lee plays it a bit (or a lot) different than the original. Yours is as good as the best, congratulations.

You look funny as hell with all that Zakk Wylde style on you but who gives a shit, your playing skills are insane! I don't think that even Zakk can play this well anymore. Didn't think there was somebody on the planet who could imitate his sound and playing style so precisely, which is basically what made him so special and famous. And you can imitate his playing during his prime, when he was really really good and had feel and everything. Not like today, when he just shreds meaningless scales with no thought or style and it's just a mess that hurts your head and ears. So that's a double Kudos for you, keep rocking man!

Great job, and killer guitarist. Mad SKILLS. Only critique I have is too much Harmonic Squealing going on. Cut those squeals in half and it sounds much better to my ears anyway. I have a hard time doing the pinch harmonics like you do. But when I master them, I will keep them to a minimum. I know that is the way Zakk Plays too. But even his need to be cut in half. Of course that is only my opinion. I'm positive there are other people that like excessive pinch harmonics. Anyway I enjoyed watching this and your crazy train video. Keep up the great videos.

Yes and yes when over used they do become boring. Randy Rhoads used natural harmonics as chords variations, listen to some songs from the "Blizzard of Oz" album.

Man thank you for saying that. I've been an Ozzy fan since '82 and I can say that from all the guitar players Ozzy has had I like Zack least. The harmonic thing has always annoyed the shit outta me, and I have never liked his tone either. I thought that harmonics and things of that nature were meant to be like little accents in a song, like little touches of spice in a meal, not used throughout the entire song. Anyway I said that to say this Mr. Gaku: you were incredible and did a phenomenal job of covering that version of that song. Kudos to you sir!

My mate and I used to have this debate! Who was Ozzy's best guitarist?! Mine was a bias toward liking Randy Rhoades, but he was always (and still is) a Jake E Lee fan. I think any guitarist that gets to play with Ozzy is pretty damn good, look at Brad Gillis etc. We will all have our favourites, but if we're being honest I know all of those guitarists would wipe the floor with my playing (and the majority of people watching at home). Great job Gaku.

There's a difference between being influenced by another musician and completely adapting their style. Gaku, start creating your own style. Don't get me wrong, you're a phenomenal guitarist, I just think you need to start playing through your hands and not through zakk's, you need to use your brain, not zakk's. I'm pretty sure there are some awesome ideas inside that head of yours!
@Tuuubesh0w
@Tuuubesh0w 10 жыл бұрын
He doesn't need to do anything, as with anybody else. There's a difference between giving advice/recommending something and to arrogantly come with the "you need to..." attitude. He has obviously been playing a lot of this kinda stuff now, but I don't see why that is something to nag about. Let the man have some fun. There are different kind of guitar players - some just wanna play their favorite songs, not that I'm saying he's like that, but you get the point.
@Wheelio
@Wheelio 10 жыл бұрын
I agree with both of you guys. For starters, he should do whatever he wants to do. If he wants to emulate Zakk Wylde, then let him. There's nothing wrong with that. On the other hand, I feel like Gaku is way too talented to be held down by such a bare-bones guitarist like Zakk Wylde. Honestly, in terms of technical skill I believe Gaku could even be better than Zakk. So it's kind of disappointing in a way seeing someone replicate a guitarist that is obviously below their skill level. But at the end of the day, it's all up to Gaku. :)
@Leyenda1
@Leyenda1 10 жыл бұрын
I agree. He obviously has the chops but the sign of a true artist is creativity. Again, not taking anything from him but would you rather see Jake E Lee/ Randy Rhodes live or Gaku? 9 out of ten times we would like to see the original unless it was Hendrix doing Dylan's All Along the Watchtower. But then again Jimi made it his own. I would the ability to play like Gaku...but then again I would be playing Gaku playing ___________
@dimgrav
@dimgrav 10 жыл бұрын
The guy is a very good player, but too much into the Zakk thing. Not only guitar-wise, leather straps, crosses, skull rings... If that pleases him, fine by us, by any means. But I can't grasp to the idea that one would prefer copying others than creating something of their own
@Leyenda1
@Leyenda1 10 жыл бұрын
dimgrav To be fair to Gaku there are a whole lot of classical violinist, celloist etc that haven't written a piece of work but are still considered amazing performers. But I still believe that the mark of a true artist is one that writes their own great work.
