I have no doubt this is Randy playing. He was so creative with his playing and often changed solos in the songs when playing live because he was so talented in making such great different solos. I've never heard any other guitarist do that. I think this is one of the best Mr. Crowley live solos I've heard. You can definitely tell its Randy's playing style just listen to all the hammer on and pull offs in the first solo. Its traditional Randy Rhoads!

The arpeggios at the beginning of the outro solo are the thing that originally sucked in. We were listening to Blizzard in the background, and then that outro solo began and from that point, Mr. Crowley would forever be my favorite song, and Randy my fav guitarist.

Best Ozzy live recording ever! He should release the full recording. He won't of course because it would put everything else he's done since Bark at the Moon to shame! I'm lucky enough to own the ep but sadly there's only 3 tracks and suicide solution fades out during the solo.

Ozzy is not about singing great , but to perform passionately , he is really underrated as a singer , but the day he passes away the world wiil credit as he deserves .

Essential! Sony Legacy had announced in 1994 that they were releasing a picture CD version of this. Obviously, and sadly, it was canceled. Love that fade out solo in suicide solution, actually prefer that version to the studio version.

I have this EP as well. Yep, I'm old. Randy accidentally plays part of the main solo in the first solo in this version. He does this on a couple of live versions from this time period, and if you play guitar you've probably done it too, lol. Right around 2:00. And absolutely it is Randy, and the dates are seemingly overlapping on releases because the UK version of Blizzard was out for a while before this EP and the US Blizzard came out in the US. Cool song, thanks for sharing!

I bought the picture disc about a week after I heard it on the radio, at Times Square Stores in West Babylon, the cashier had mentioned that Randy Rhoads died that morning. I spent weeks trying to find out if it was true, I was in partial denial. The cost of my picture disc, if anyone inquired: Make me the Emperor of the Universe, you'd have to actually build a spaceship and travel to every inhabited planet and inform them that I'm their new leader, no bullshit.

@hatross69 yes youre right, this was recorded on October 2, 1980. Blizzard was recorded between March and April of the same year, then released in the UK on September 20. it must have just been a mistake by Randy to play that part of the 2nd solo, and I believe I read somewhere that this was he and Ozzy's first show together. perhaps Randy was nervous. and besides even the best make mistakes sometimes lol.

See I love this recording of the original lineup . Bob and Lee sound much better live than anything from the first Blizzard of Ozz US tour which then included Rudy Sarso and Tommy Aldridge. But what really makes these early recording so much better is there are non keyboards except for the beginning of Mr Crowley which I think is pre-recorded on this 1980 recording. This just sounded so much more better and like a 4 piece heavy metal band than it does in the later stages of the 1981 US Blizzard tour along with the 1982 Diary of a Madman tour where they used keyboards in every single song and in my opinion the keys were way to loud and was drowning out Randy's guitar parts along with the rest of the band . Ozzy was dead against having keyboards in the band at first but eventually gave into Randy's recondmendations of a full time keyboard player on the live tours . Randy's compositions on all of music from both albums was incredible but didn't agree with his insistence of using a full time keyboards live .

@therealozzy1981 it came off of the Mr. Crowley Live Ep album, so it was Randy lol My theory as to why it was played differently was because of how early on it was recorded.

I do wish they would have kept this ending. Was always my favorite ending to Mr Crowley. Reprising the bridge with full overdrive just makes the ending hauntingly powerful. I picked up this picture disc from a pawn shop back in the 80's. The owner had a thumbtack through the center hole. I took the disc down, threw him a 10 spot, and walked out. I never asked him if it was for sale or how much he wanted. It was scratched up, it would barely play on side 1. I had to get the non-picture disc version to hear You Said It All as side 2 was just absolutely ruined.

This is not Randy Rhoads on guitar it's Brad Gillis from Night Ranger. Randy never played this stiff ever. Bob Daisley is full of shit when he says this was a 1980 gig.
@spiratustreviso98856 жыл бұрын
With all due respect, you are 100% wrong on this one. This was released as an EP and it is 100% Randy on guitar during their short 1980 tour of the UK. Brad Gillis couldn't play Randy's stuff properly because he didn't have the classical background of playing those scales. Brad Gillis is a more blues based player, while Randy was more of a Classical based player. You just have to listen/watch the Ozzy MTV concert to witness this for yourself. While Brad did a commendable job with such short notice, he didn't and couldn't play Randy's classical runs note for note...not even close. He's just not that kind of a player. Apples and oranges with respect to the two musicians and I love them both. This absolutely is Randy Rhoads playing with Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake during their 1980 UK tour. Not to mention that this isn't Tommy Aldridge on drums either.
