I dont know, album covers dont play as big role in music today as it used to when more or less all music is digital so im not going to blame bands for using a cheaper alternative for something that is going to be seen as a tiny square in a corner. Besides, its not like there havent been bad cover arts before AI and im thinking specifically on Iron Maidens great album Dance of death with a tragedy of a cover. Or Morbid Angels latest album. As long as they dont use it for the music however I will wait and see if it dies out or not.

@@DeadlyRivfader I totally agree, Dance of Death is one of the worst covers I’ve ever seen. And you are of course right, I’m an old metalhead so I’m not the best judge when it comes to AI. I’ve seen some excellent pictures using AI, so it is not all bad, but it all depends on if you master the technology or not. ✊🏻🤘🏻

AI art for album covers does feel a bit weak.. but at the same time, it's quick, easy and affordable. If it's a successful band that's already had a successful debut album then I don't think it's acceptable for a band to use ai art so clearly! Using ai to rework aan albums art can be acceptable but going the full ai route is laziness that I just cannot be down with. Not a cool move.

I'm a metalhead in the tech industry, and the correct place for AI is to supplement and inspire actual human artists, coders, writers, etc. Left to itself it can never do more than remix what it's already seen/heard in derivative ways, but as a tool it's fantastic for summarizing, collating, filling in, and other less creative parts of the artistic process. So yes, it's here to stay, but so is the "human in the loop".

You got confused between West Ham & Aston Villa! The original Black Sabbath members grew up in Aston, Birmingham with Aston Villa as their local team. And the reason that various musicians, such as Jake E Lee, are not invited to Ozzy's rock hall induction is that Sharon doesn't like them & doesn't want to pay them. Lee in particular is persona non grata since he told the world that Ozzy didn't write any of the songs that they recorded together.

Dream Stealer was a nice surprise, with a return to old school Arch Enemy(Wages of Sin and even the Johan era) while also adding some prog elements which reminded me of old Opeth(pre Blackwater Park). I love that they're trying to return to their roots, Wages of Sin is still 1 of their(if not the) best albums, while also exploring new territory, which makes sense considering the lineup changes and natural development of all the band members as musicians. I truly wish this new album will finally unleash Alissa White-Gluz's full vocal range, as she has a ton more to offer than what she displayed thus far on Arch Enemy since War Eternal. I don't just mean her clean singing ability, which she did quite a lot of in her previous band: The Agonist, but even her harsh singing has a lot more range than she used thus far. Just look at those same The Agonist songs and compare how she sounded there and with Arch Enemy. I'm not saying she should return to that sound specifically, just that they should utilize all of her vocal range in new and interesting ways and combine it with what the rest of the band brings to the table.

The firs question in my mind when I saw Marty Friedman in here was I was wondering if he thought about making more music with Becker. Becker makes music still with software created by his dad that utilizes his physical capabilities. I think this would be an awesome creation! if anyone can recommend this to Friedman, this would be great! Those two together would be the best team IMO! Much better than him rejoining into Megadeth even. Freidman is one of my all-time favorite guitarists and Megadeth is one of my all-time favorite bands.

I will be in Cleveland on 10/19/24 to see Ozzy Osbourne get inducted into RnRHoF as a solo artist. IMO all the strife Ozzy has had with former band members is related to Sharon in one way or another. She has been a double edged sword in his career. I agree she has been important for his career but she has burned A LOT of bridges with former band mates of his as well.

Ooouuuffff the AI vs. Cover Artists is indeed delicate, and I think is unfair to use a computer to replace talented people. But the music artists and the entourage of people seeking a piece from their production is easy. There still a lot of people looking to take advantage of musicians. Two big examples are: more often than before, old albums are re-released as re-mastered and digital albums have never been less expensive that CDs, tapes or vinyl from back in the day (kind of the same with e-books). The excuse there was "the media", the cost of those CDs, tapes or vinyl. Today is what that digital storage is super special, before we buy it/consume it? And yet, they never seem most of that money, that is why they rely on concerts and tours. So, if a musician wants to save some bucks with a cover, F'it let them be!

I love Ozzy and I’ve actually met him at Download backstage. I’m a bit confused though because I’m disabled and I’m in a one man dark moody metal band and I let rip on my homemade 18 string guitar which is made to fit on my wheelchair and I play guitar with one hand and my head. So Ozzy could very easily sit on some sort of dark throne and sing. Or he could very easily make his wheelchair look metal as fuck as I do it without thinking. Unless Ozzy has breathing issues then I completely understand as he wouldn’t be able to sing etc.

There are some really really good ai albums out there. "Svåra Tider" from Månskald or "Beyond The Sea" from Vikings Heart or "Infernal Pack" from Primordial Soul as example are serious killer albums. Of course you can outlisten that it's ai music, but this three examples there are as top notch as it can get actually with ai music. Only sound production could be better. EDIT: By the way, it's easy to find out if an album is made through ai. Because ai music doesn't gets sold as a physical album...not up until now.

I can understand that as metal artists, bands don't get that much money and cutting costs on album art might sound attractive, but it's such a key aspect of this music. And money can't be an excuse, nowadays you have access to amazing artists all over the world, you just need to look around the right platforms and give a kid a shot for much less money than an established artist. It's a win win scenario, they get their art promoted overall and you get original art for a cheaper price (and you might get something amazing, or not, but then again, it wasn't expensive). But A.I.? C'mon...

Although covert artwork is not a reason NOT to listen to something, but frequently it is actually the main reason to take something and to try to listen (the bands/albums you DON’T know). So it is very important. And come on, it’s not budget out of this world - bands like that should not go this cheap way, because in artistic mannner it just looks cheap.

possibly for bands with no money, they have an idea what they want and can use AI precisely to obtain a picture, but it would be nce to have a "raw" result and have someone human work on it ti finalize the design. Like the clip of Within Temptation "Bleed out", either they generated 15 second or less segments and added them or they obtained a raw clip that someone worked on after, and tbh honest I find the result horrible, things popping out of nowhere and disappearing in a pixel mess, shaky animation, either too fast or too slow ... I guess for most people it can pass, but me I see CGI from start to finish.

Jelly roll singing Ozzy, NO! AI is a problem! Most metal fans to do not want to hear AI vocals or anything involving AI! There are some voice actors that are suing AI companies for illegally using their voices! It’s a problem that many said would come about! If you listen to what Paul said about the “new” Beatles song that was “unearthed”, they used AI for John on that! That’s just flat out fraud trying to say he sang when it was a huge part of AI doing it!

AI is way out of control! It's replacing artists, musicians, photographers and so much more. Jobs are being lost and you can't have job loss and a growing population for a good future. Most I believe that AI needs to be known that it's used, all mediums using it need to have it as best I can say is some kind of watermark to let all know it's been used to create or alter said mediums.

As an artist, myself I find raw, un- embellished AI art to be ugly, lazy and thoroughly disgusting! The least these bands could do is add some color to the drab grayscale they present.

I was not happy with some of the music on Ozzys induction. Jelly Roll was a horrible choice. Billy Idol tried hard , he even seemed to put his own spin on it, but it was not what it should have been. The whole thing seemed to be thrown together! They should have had singers who could sound comparable to Ozzy. They didn't have to be Metal, just good at doing Ozzy tunes. Elton John got Metallica. I feel there are so many artists more suited to play Ozzy. I will say that Ozzy did seem touched and honored by the show, but they should have chosen better. A great chance was missed and can never be made up. Luckily, great bands and singers will continue to play Ozzy tunes live and share his message and sound with the world. Ozzy should be proud. He doesn't need the Hall of Fame to prove how important he is to his fans and Heavy Metal music or Music in general!!! He will always be with us. Thank you John Ozzy Osbourne!!!!

AI is acceptable when you can't find, or get the metal you want from real humans. If it's impossible to get what you want from humans, and AI is saying "I'll give it to you." Then people will go to AI. Now if you are an artist, there are things to consider with AI. Can you perform the metal? If so, do it! If you can't, Pay someone to do it. If you can't pay someone to do it as well as AI, and you really want to make your metal come to life, use AI. Human Performance IS the product. People want Human performance. It's why the Olympics is so popular. But some people just love Music and don't care about Human Performance. If there was a Robot Olympics, they'd watch. But it won't be huge ratings. I'm Both. I'm a Human performance fan. Tommy Emanual, Steve Vai are awesome. But a brilliant AI song is still awesome to sing along to. However most AI content sucks.

AI for music videos, I think are okay, most metal bands cant afford real artist even bands like Judas Priest and Bruce Bruce Dickinson have crappy CGI videos from 1998 in 2024 made by some starving art student for $30. So if the bands do not want to spend a lot of money on a music video to a song, use AI. And I can accept AI in remasters of old albums. But nothing more I do not accept an AI Glenn Tipton on stage on. Absolutely not!

That has been an issue with many acts including older acts. Sadly there was more uproar over backmasking than lip syncing.

When they use AI to create a band, and the music that goes with it. It's a good thing that you can still tell it's fake. AI just can't play as good as humans. It's not there yet. 😂
