Far out bloke. This is an absolute winner of a build. Bench videos out there with millions of views that don't even come close to this. Subbed.

I was hoping this bench build would have been one of the videos to get millions of views. I missed by a few zero's 🤣 I have another bench build coming soon. Thanks for watching and subscribing 👍

I got started on mine today. It may be a little beyond my skill level with the angles, but I'll give it my best shot. My original plan was to build a Roubo, but I ran into too many technical issues and interferences with vise hardware and dog holes. I bought your plans for this, redrew them in Sketchup, and found that the interference and clearance troubles were resolved. This will certainly be a skill builder and learning experience!

Awesome, thanks for picking up a set of plans. Let me know if you have any trouble. Once you get your head around the splayed legs, everything will fall into place nicely.

Perfect size for my first build and first workbench. Will get those plans. It would be good if you do a segment for first timers on essential tools for beginners
@kuffyswoodwork4 жыл бұрын
I reckon it's a good sized bench for joinery work. Perhaps a little too narrow for assembly work, but there is always plenty of floor space available for that. I will do a video about essential tools and machinery for beginners. I'll try and get that video done before the end of the year 2020.

Haha, thanks Joe. I couldn't resist staining it. I had planned to stain the entire top but decided against it because it will look like a mess if I need to flatten the top later.

Cheers Tony. It actually took me 6 weeks to edit this video. In the end, I sat down and wrote myself a plan and just did it. After 6 weeks of trying without a plan, it took me just one day to edit from scratch yesterday using a plan!🤦♂️

Masterful. Just finishing off the Cot build, will be up the full instalment of this in no time and I can't wait. I don't think I have sufficient ass-clamp (or skill, tools, time or space... or skills.) to make this sorta thing yet but it is firmly added to the dream project list. Absolutely brilliant mate.

Great work, if you can keep up the videos because I think you are the the most informative and entertaining woodworker on You Tube.

Thanks Gary. I will continue with the videos. I find it adds an interesting element to building something because I have to think about things from all sorts of angles other than what I can see right in front of my face.

Very relaxing to watch the edited version. A very nice Bench. I made my first 'Proper' bench five years ago after donkeys using just a 8 X 4 ply on a frame. Very glad I did. Same feeling you had. Of course it is pretty knocked about now but still love it. I was building A Roubo at the same time you were building your 'Ocker' . Work got in the way, and it is only just finished this week ( I made it for sale). Hopefully I can get a buyer in these troubled times, otherwise it takes up a lot of real estate. Waiting for your next project :)

Thanks. Yeah, it's pretty solid. Though isn't so heavy that I can't pick up one end to shift it around my workshop for the times that I need extra floor space.

Great bench you've built, I hope I get my joints as tight and clean as you do 👍👍

It took me a bit of time and a lot of fussing to get them right. It's one of those things where it is OK to be too tight, but when it becomes too loose you have to start again! 😮

Hey, i'm in Geelong. Where did your source the Oak for this bench?
@kuffyswoodwork2 жыл бұрын
The Tassie Oak that I have used for my workbenches came from my workplace. They were old structural beams that had been left to rot in the garden for a decade. They had no value at work, but after I did a tonne of machining and gluing, I was able to piece together pretty good benchtops.
@samoanSAIYAN4 жыл бұрын
Awesome stuff mate. Full time wood worker? What's the time frame on a project like that? 👍
@kuffyswoodwork4 жыл бұрын
I don't do this sort of thing full time anymore, mostly I just mess around on KZbin now. In an equipped shop, without distractions associated with filming, the bench would take 3-4 days to build. But those aren't full work days as there is a bit of time waiting for glue to dry
