Man, I love that kit! Eventually I will have a whole flight of them in my cave. With ALL PARTS included.😎

The problem with magnets is that you don't want your high school trophies to close to the kit in the cabinet *whomp*... ;-) But I will take that idea and run with it in my own plastic assembly. Thank you for doing these videos. I know there is a lot of work behind it. 👍

I used the kits blast tubes. By sanding down the "hump" or ridge, they slide in easily and once you put on the trays you cover everything. With the trays off, and the bay covers off, you can see very easily. The mounting of the guns I found was the problem. Not very deep receptors on the guns for strong adhesion. Bob Smith helped out with that issue. Once installed they do line up very well and level. I only left one side open, also using the kits .50 belts. One other thing the rocker covers for the R-2800, I could only use the flat covers, the later rocker covers did not fit well with the mount rings. I like all the pit PE you're using, this 47 will look good!

Interesting to hear your thought process on how you'll deal with fitment and alignment issues.

Great update and engineering solutions, by the way ,we lost you from about 11.00 for a couple of minutes then the video carries on. Looking forward to how this Jug progresses.

My fault for rushing to get it uploaded! Usually do a quick QA scrub. I think it's probably a rendering hiccup.

Hey Matt, go into the you tube video editor and trim out 11:01 to 12:39 and delete it. I have a suggestion for the blast tubes.. what about drilling the gun breeches and inserting some 0.8mm brass rod. Trim the brass rod to length so it is just visible inside the hole in the wing fairing, then when you come to fit the tubes, simply slide them over the rods through the hole in the fairing. Job done!!

Why not fit some brass tube from the leading edge to the gun body, just big enough bore to take the blast tube?
@YAHUAHsgotmysix5 жыл бұрын
I second that 👍

I must correct myself. The picture I have is from a late version of P-47 Blast tubes /wing fairing. Razorback does have barrel tube covers to main gun housing. Sorry, hope it caused no confusion.

I built the entire engine up... just because I liked it. Can't see shit. But I did not attempt to use their ridiculous mounting system. Your analysis is spot on. I glued that firewall looking Q9 in place in the fuselage, then used thick CA and UV glue to mount the engine onto is... and it will never move. Did the same to get the cowling on the engine... :)

About the engine area :: Two magnets can be unwieldy to deal with, so maybe use a piece of steel in place of a second magnet?
@dias_se5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would do that too, if only to save some space. 👍 Only one thing. You would lose the "self center" effect that you get with two magnets. 🤔 Thoughts?

What if you use some cardboard instead of the magnets. Stick it to the engine mount so you have a surface to glue to.

Man I thought something happened to my computer half way through when all went dark...;) Looking good, thanks for the pointers. Would like more info on how you did the gauge cluster since that was about where the video went dark and the part I have the most trouble with. Maybe on the next model...;)

Trumpeter did the same shit with the engine mounts on the TBM-3 kit I'm building!!! I cut the fucking mounts and just glued the firewall because I wasn't cutting the access panel to show off mounts and an oil reservoir. What happened with the deadspace on the video? I bought the Hasegawa 1/32nd bubble top to put together in the Gabreski camo. But, I got their P-40 and a Trumpeter P-38, so I have no clue when these go down. I have the midway point of my TBM build here on KZbin. I need to update since I've experimented with your blackbase fun bag for MRP Sea Blue the past 2 weeks. I agree, the sea blue is over saturated. Hull red and eggplant work well with tyre black. Didn't care for the nato green under it.

With regard to the installment of the brass machined tubes for the guns in the wings; why don't you first cut the plastic barrels and replace each of them on the plastic gun receivers instead, to then place the whole gun assembly (plastic machine gun receiver + brass machined tube) as per instructions? That way the tubes would be on the exact spot once you plug the wing leading edge cover over them.
@DoogsModels5 жыл бұрын
Because the entire goal is to be able to deal with the shaky leading edge cover (and access doors on the top of the wings) without the blast tubes getting in the way. Ditto for easier painting.

Oh? How about getting this tool for that purpose next time around? It's awesome for dealing with access doors and windshields. www.micromark.com/Model-Pal-Vacuum-Pickup-Tool

If the blast tubes are actual tubes not rod, you could glue a length of thread into the mounting hole then slide the tube into place on the thread. maybe ...
@DoogsModels5 жыл бұрын
They're rod, just milled open a few millimeters up front.

Bring on the paint work, I can't wait hahah 😉👍 Screw Trumpeter and co and all of the rivet counting arse wipes it's because of them we all have to pay more money to the manufacturer's for all this over engineered horse shit that you can't see anyway. Great idea for the magnets Matt but I think you may be thinking to hard on the gun tube situ. Just a thought but could you not attach the tube holder to the wing minus the tubes with P.V.A glue then finish the paint and weathering and once that's complete remove the tube holder's and slide the tubes in from the back as per normal. Then trim the tubes to the correct length and retro fit them back onto the leading edge.
