Brilliant! Thanks for posting this. My great uncle Manuel Alvarez flew jugs and has since passed on. I was very fond of him and we always connected over airplanes. The D model with the bubble was his favorite.

One of the safest fighters of WW2. The Jug could take a savage beating from the best of the Luftwaffe and still get it's pilot back to base. The P51 might have been slightly better overall in performance but it couldn't take anywhere near the beating a P47 could endure. One round into the P51's liquid cooled Merlin and it was over. P47's were known to have cylinders shot out of it's Double Wasp radial engine and still make it back to base.

John! I was just reminiscing and thought I'd try KZbin and preston! You used to come into our little antique shop in Oak Ridge! That was about 2000. You were just healing up from jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I still have my favorite Christmas card hanging over my desk! I'm sure you remember Santa in his P47. Great to see you so healthy! I smile every time I think of you!

Hi Dave - Very nice to hear from you. Still drinking out of some nice little demi port glasses I bought there. Yes, still out here. Also racing a lot in Europe. I'll stop by next time I'm up that way. Thanks for checking in.

My favorite aircraft. A girlfriend's father flew a P-47 in Europe during WWII, painted with the black & white invasion stripes. Robert Johnson's book, "Thunderbolt" is an excellent read.

...I'd say, that title belongs to the P-51D: the P-47 was more like the "BATTERING RAM" of WW2 fighters- THE P-47 WAS BIG, HEAVY, AND IT HIT REALLY HARD...(!)

Dear Sir. Thank you for your beautiful video. I'm going to send as a link your video on IL2 forum to show people how good P-47 was in climbing. Could you be so kind and tell us what block-version exactly is? Is it D-28 or something else? I still know not much about differences between D model versions so I would like to be sure. Best regards HOLY

@@jshoff725 Thnx for quick answer sir. Is this beauty was fueled as full on Main tank and almost full on Aux tank? I would like to see you this conversation sir. forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/44778-p-47-flight-model-discussion/page/6/#comments

@@303HOLYONE During this flight it was likely nearly full on the main but less than 25gal on aux. It's normal to fly to an airshow and burn the aux down to 20 or so and then do the show on the main, usually topped off since the Thunderbolt just doesn't care. Thanks for the interest.

It would be great if when you bought the WWII planes that they had the peepers available so if you wanted to use the guns for shooting targets and what not you could.
