Wow! That is so cool. This album has been one of my favorites since the early 90s. I'm a wannabe drummer, so Dennis is a drum god obviously. I remember reading about Dennis in Modern Drummer around 88. The article sung his praises and talked about his playing with John Schofield on Blue Matter and how he had been a child prodigy playing with PFunk when he was 18yo. I picked up Blue Matter and everything else I could find him on. Groove you can drive a truck through. He has endless chops and facility, but his perfect, beautiful, in the pocket groove is what slays me about his playing. It's this unrelenting, perfect pulse - so strong and perfect. His time, and the way he feels time is just glorious. This record shows his groove like no other. It just slays me. Not to mention the rest of the band was on fire! Was Eddie Hazel playing with this lineup? Man!!! So amazing you saw this! Tell me more!

I remember when I got this on CD. I'm 32 now, and when I got it I was 17. I remember the first chord after the drum fill, DUNNNNNNNNNNNN. From there I remember I was in some "deep sh^t" and this song changed my life.

The Maggot Brain version from this same concert is also the best ever recorded, and Dennis kills it even harder on the drums during that song. It's so fire, that it has practically ruined all other versions of the song for me.

As wonderful as this performance is, it lost the driving rhythm of the bass that makes Cosmic Slop a funk masterpiece.
