One of the very few NZ malts that could be completely confused for Scotch, and that's a good thing.

Sounds good, Dave and Tim. On the prospects of 10yo NZ whiskies, it may perhaps depend on the angel's share. WhiskyJason recently addresses this topic. Whereas Scotland has an average loss rate of 2%p.a. for its malt whiskies in cask, Germany's is perhaps more than twice that at 5%. The result is that a 10yo German malt is perhaps in some senses comparable to a 25yo Scotch malt--see Jason's channel for the maths, but note that the loss itself is a compounding phenomenon rather than linear. It may be too soon to have reliable metrics, but *if* the loss rate in moderate climes like Auckland/Waikato is higher than Scotland's, then it may be that any age-stated whiskies from that region will likely remain in the single digits, yet drink (somewhat) like rather older Scottish malts.

Being in Hamilton it's a crying shame I haven't visited the distillery yet. Might have to rectify that soon.

Wouldn’t mind seeing some merch in the form of a black T with the SMR glencairn logo on it malt mates! Just a thought. Keep it up, thoroughly enjoy your channel! Double extra large please.

I doubt I'll see this anytime soon in Brooklyn, but it's good to know it's out there. Have you ever seen any Brooklyn-made spirits or beers in NZ? Actually, I wouldn't mind the occasional beer review; I think you've done a few in the past ✌️

@@MrChristopherMolloy No, I don't think we've encountered anything from the city. American craft beer does show up here now and then, but it's strictly West Coast.
