A favorite, always on hand. In fact, I just picked up my backup bottle this afternoon. Cheers!

Just got and tried my trade sample from Inver House yesterday. It's a very precise whisky with a lot, but not OTT, sherry influence and clean. It's quite good indeed, but I could never understand what Speyburn's DNA really was because of the sherry overcoat. The latest batch of the 15 here in the UK has a lot less sherry than ever before (I suspect 20% sherry max) and it blew my mind how good it was. Where was Speyburn all along? My gosh the spirits is beautiful there with levels of barley sugars and grain, quince, bruised apple, even a whiff of something tropical akin to kiwi. Inver House has radically changed their blending in the past few years and their whiskies are getting more and more incredible as they go. Oh and get yourself a Balblair 15 if you have it on the shelf in NZ. It was my pick of the lineup in my trade samples.

I was most struck by the putty on the nose, which I had read about in sherried whiskies but not previously encountered. Long, even, linear finish. Excellent stuff, probably objectively better than the 15 but I prefer the 15 for its blend/balance of ex-bourbon and sherry-seasoned casks.

This is timely as it seems we may have lost Glendronach.

Good to come across a new review from you. Didn't they used to be more frequent? Anyway, great eye opener of a review this one. Cheers from UK.

Yes, it's remarkably good and I con't find it too hard on the sherry or the pocket. I haven't had the Glenfarclas 18 but I prefer this to the current Glendronnach 18 and many other 18s. Old Pulteney 18 clips it for me, but not on price. Thanks guys enjoy it

I've had the 10 yr. for the longest time sitting around w/ just a dab left-- so, curious- is the 15 years worth pulling the trigger ? Cheers from ETn Smoky Mtns area ❤

As everything, it depends on price but I think the 15 is really delicious. It shows a balance of bourbon and sherry casks, by no means a sherry "bomb" but for me arguably better for that, but with plenty of delicious sherry-related aromas/flavours. Roy/Aqvavite is just one of many others who have reviewed it pretty favourable. Roy has observed some batch variation with recent releases he says are darker and more sherried than some earlier ones--but see also earlier comment (above) by @j.r.lalancette4588. I haven't tried the 10 so can't compare directly, sorry.

I prefer Speyburn 18 than Glenfiddich 18 or Glenlivet 18 anytime. Good specs with 46% abv, NCF, natural colour. It's one of my favourite 18-year Scotch
@jonmetcalf9827Ай бұрын
Good dram. It is 100% bourbon matured for 14 years then 100% sherry matured for the last 4. It may be about to be reduced from 46% abv to 40% for the Chinese market which would be a crime against excellent whisky.

Not a lot of reviewers harp on this one. They seem to talk more about the 15. I was going to buy a Bunna 18 on sale for 108 £ and it sold out. So now I’m not sure if I should over pay for a Tamdhu 18 or save and buy this Speyburn 18. Edit: now the speyburn 18 is also sold out and hard to get. 😂 lots of thirsty people out there.

I preferred Tamdhu 15 to 18, it showed a more balanced Sherry
