Thank you Steve but I must say when I stayed in a hotel overlooking the port the main polluting vessels were the many cargo ships and ferries!

Many of those are quite old and more polluting. The cruise ships do seem to be getting cleaner

Just been valletta in malta 3 cruise ships came in one day 15.000 people got off.

These boats are huge. I live on the outskirts of Southampton . I don't know how it works out that we have 4 or so in the port at the same time!! We get news reports that there in for a couple days - resulting in horrendous traffic jams- I know they bring in revenue to the city but its horrendous.

These big ships are not pretty, but they must bring a lot of money to the island.
