I don’t follow a ton of small channels but I want to say your audience is the most engaged I’ve ever seen, which speaks a lot about you. You’re likable and make quality content enough to get a good amount of people who donate despite having >50,000 subs. Just thought I’d say that, lol. I see channels with 100K+ subs with less engagement.

Thats really useful to get an outside perspective like that. Thanks for the encouragement sd

Would recommend watching some Mei Leaf videos to learn all about the teas you got, they're some really good stuff and even better when prepared correctly! There's so much to learn out there, you have a fantastic starting point! Enjoy the learning process, tea is an amazing thing and puerh is a wonderful experience not only of taste but of body feeling--some calm, some energize, some make me feel like I just smoked a bowl of weed! Very excited for you :D

also looking up specific teas on steepster can be very helpful as seeing the tasting reactions of other people can not only help you know what to look for but also just a fun way to engage with the tea and the process!

Rich, you got spoilt! The ‘jug’ to the tea set is a fairness cup - pour the tea from the teapot into the fairness cup so that the brew strength doesn’t differ from one cup to the next, which is what would happen if you were to pour the tea directly into the cups. The tea mat is a traditional part of a Chinese tea ceremony and transforms drinking tea into a mindful, appreciative act 😍 Also, I’m always a big fan of your videos and content but am unsure about the philosophies of J Peterson and R Girard. Individualism is such a large part of American society so I get your interest but I would encourage you to counter their philosophies by considering theory on collectivism, unconscious bias, inherited privilege and, dare I say it, how this is all wound up in capitalism, patriarchy and oppression of ‘the other’. Keep up the good work 👌👌

I second this
@LetsFindOut15 жыл бұрын
Martine, firstly I want to say how thoughtfully written this comment was, and thank you for conveying your skepticism in such a rational, open manner. I can only hope criticism from others comes in this form more often. Thanks for clearing up what the fairness cup was. That's really useful, and I probably would've looked like a fool trying to use it when I make tea on camera. I respect the reverence for ceremony and mindfulness. (I really like william blake's phrase "infinity in a grain of sand") _As for the comments on the philosophy of Peterson_ (I don't know anything about Girard's yet), I'm not committed to any ideology in particular, and I have way more to learn. But I like understanding things in their historical context, so I can see how (for instance) the current ideas espousing individualism and collectivism arose, how they differ, where they align, how and why variations of them have been implemented on large scales before, and what the danger's of radical forms of either are (specifically as they're made into law [ie. enforced with the threat of jail/death]). History also gives me a context for how our perceived suffering relates to that of others in the present and the past. Context is very important to me. It helps me get my bearings in the world. Whatever else I'm skeptical about, one thing that is irrefutable is how bloody history is,. And because of this, I do very much believe that in the process of discovering the best way to organize groups of us, it's words and ideas that should be killed through honest dialogue. Not humans. *If you have a particular book or individual (that's as much as I can probably sincerely commit to looking into, atm) that you could point me to that have had a significant impact on your ideas, I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to be bigoted and immediately dismiss ideas simply because they don't align with my current level of understanding about the world. Reality gets the last word and I'd be foolish and arrogant to think my current experiences and knowledge are enough to get me through the rest of my life.* _(If you're interested in what I've found useful in Peterson's philosophy, from what I comprehend of it)_ ... He seems to promote viewing yourself as a being who exists on multiple levels: the "you" right now, you tomorrow (the future), you as a member of your family, local city, (state, country, continent, planet, etc.) and those "you"'s as they are nested inside the future realities of each of those. And (in his perspective) _you should act so that ALL of these versions/perspectives/realities of you benefit. _ By interestingly using this unusual definition of "you", he thinks the most efficient way to authentically find meaning in your life (by becoming a more competent individual who is able to ultimately be a net asset to her society), is to start _very_ locally (ie "clean your room" and "get your house in order") because the progressively larger (and more complex) tasks are then easier as you approach them this way. The psychologist Piaget reasoned this is how we (as children) develop basic skills. (You learn to grab a cup, then grab and move toward mouth, then grab-move-toward-mouth-and-sip, then maybe do this while walking, etc.. until you're performing this while reading a book about child development, lol) *Thanks if you made it this far. This was as much of a way for me to organize my thoughts, as it was a response to you. So, thanks for the opportunity to share. Have a great week, Martine.*

You are not lacking in culture, you just see yours around you so much that you are blind to it and take advantage of it. Not too mention that after the independence of America, Americans were really shut off to European culture outside the pockets that came to America afterwords. I really hate when people believe that their own culture is lacking over another. Really all that means, if your are indeed thinking that; is that you as a person are not in touch with your deeper culture or refuse to see it. I'm guessing you have Nordic in your DNA, maybe even Finnish, or even British. All three of those cultures are rich with history, arts and delicacies. Immerse yourself in those cultures and you will learn more about yourself.
