P-Pump VS VP44 VS CP3 15°F Cold Start Battle! Who Will Win???

My guy, you managed to find the three biggest pieces of shit in the Cummins world. Anyone watching: this is not an accurate depiction of how these cold start. Literally should be key in, two, maybe three revolutions and purring like a kitten. All three either have no grid heater, or the injectors are totally shot. 15* isn’t even cold. I’m shocked at the level of shitbox these are. None of them should start that hard.

My 24v has no problem cold starting but the grid heater works great…. I think another reason is because I have good batteries and a aftermarket lift pump 🤷🏼‍♂️

On the 24v don’t stop cranking and then start and stop and start and stop ANNND start. Just keep the key cranked let the starter do its job it will cause enough heat to build up in the cylinders to pop it right off once that happens the VP44 takes over and revs it up and if it’s cold enough it will go into 3 cal high idle

My 24v starts immediately down to -20 something is definitely wrong.

My 12v was just like that are all the vp 24v trucks like that or is there something else going on with it?

Mine doesn’t start like that…24v vp era grid heaters are finicky (well the solenoid at least) and if you’re running the stock lift pump and have weak batteries you’ll have hard to start issues no matter what temperature it is outside 😂…even in -15 conditions my truck fires right up 🤷🏼‍♂️

10 second crank = 20 second cool down, going ham on it is why every 5.9 has a half dead starter lol
