I'm just a novice at detailing, and mostly do it on my own hot rods. The question I have is that I've used Dream Maker in the past when preparing for a car show, and found that it REALLY attracts dust. I love the gloss enhancement, but I hate dusting the car off so frequently. Turtle Wax claims to repel dust. Would it be possible to do a comparison of products that claim to reduce dust? Thank you for another great video!

You need to use a 20 degree gloss meter, a 60 degree meter reading does not correlate well with visual. The resolution is much finer with a 20 degree meter. My background is paint and coatings. You can have the same 60 degree reads on surfaces, but the 20 degree will give you a 10+ unit difference. Repeatable and reproducible readings are obtained by taking at least three readings in different spots on the panel and averaging them. I ran QC/QA for a large coatings company.

I just got done applying TW Flex with Graphene for the 5th time on my new Traverse. This time I followed up with a coat of TW Pure Shine because I’m looking to reduce static. I have a vacation home on a dirt road that I have to drive on for a 1/4 mile. After a weekend the rear lift gate is just covered with road dust. It’s so annoying. Pure Shine claims to reduce static. I guess I will find out this weekend. I was not immediately impressed with the slickness when I finished yesterday. But after it set up overnight, it’s very slippery now. About as slippery as F11 Top Cost. It also appears to have a deepening & darkening effect on the paint color. I applied by hand and it flashed so much easier than the TW Flex product.

Not very impressive. There are other "toppers" that actually provide a little added protection as a sacrificial layer, and they have been proven to boost gloss. I have tried many, and have settled on 3 toppers for each protection category... Waxed paint --- I really like Adam's Polishes' "Spray Wax" (I think it scored well in your own gloss tests, too). Sealed paint --- Bead Maker on light colors and Xtreme Solutions "Topper" on darker colors. Coated paint --- Jescar "Ceramic Spray Wax" (formerly "Bead It"). This is such an underrated product!

I don't have experience with pure shine nor meguiars. I only have tried dream maker, and it's the only p&s product I've ever used. I agree with your results, I can tell the difference when I use it vs when I don't. I usually go over Titan with this and the results are pretty awesome.

There is more to gloss with the naked eye then just the meter reading. The way our eyes perceive shiny reflective paint is also a “gloss” factor. Depth of color also a factor.

thanks for the video. I recently bought the P&S and applied it to my white car (it already has Meguairs Polish, Show Car Glaze, Ultimate Liquid Wax) ... without the P&S , the paint is already quite glossy. With the P&S , it just added just a tiny bit more. Not spectacular. Then I got the Meguairs Insane Shine Paint Glosser and applied it to my blue car (same Meguairs Polish, Show Car Glaze, Ultimate Liquid Wax treatment as the white car). The result from the Meguairs is quite noticeable: the blue is darker and added gloss brights a bit specular shine to the paint. In my area, the Meguairs is 3 times less expensive than the P&S. so my choice is very clear :) I'll put some Meguairs on the white car to see what it'll do. Not sure if it will make the white 'darker' !!! In the past, I've used Meguairs ultimate quick detialer on top and with repeated use , the product produces quite a bit of shine....but lacks the warm glossiness of these gloss enhancers.

Dream Maker does add a nice pop of gloss but I have more trouble than success. Sometimes it "melts" into the panel and provides a nice boost in gloss over an already shiny surface, but most of the time it forms a white haze and gets smeary. I've played with application amount and towel weave without luck, and this is on top of a P&S coating to keep manufacturer symmetry.
