I like the way you walked through your thought process and backed it up with your self-made, custom designed troubleshooting checklist. Although this seems out of my scope, I learned a lot from seeing how you organized this diagnosis. Thank you!

Finally! Someone explained this correctly! Too many parts store employees sell the purge solenoid like it’s going to fix the issue. Cracked hose, broken wire, leaking filler neck, will all throw the same code.

Where did you get all that info on your car from? Like the schismatics and color ID of each wire? This is exactly what i need to trouble shoot my electrical demons in my Saturn Outlook but there is absolutely nothing available even the Haynes Manual has nothing after i bought it >:/ To have it on paper and on ur tab makes it so much more easier. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

+UBBERTANKER Yes, and you are absolutely correct. That is the first thing you always check when a PCM is suspected to be faulty. Loose/bad grounds can cause the most bizarre problems, haha!

Oh man.... I hope you still check comments lol. Got one for you... I have 1.75v at the purge valve connector and 1.75v at the harness. Do you think it’s a corroded or faulty PCM?

I am interesting in knowing if the new pcm solved the problem or if you were too hasty in making the call. Otherwise good video.

Did you have to activate purge valve to get ground or do it ground to pcm when key is on?
@snorman19118 жыл бұрын
What do you mean exactly by "ground through the PCM"?
@mikesullivane308 жыл бұрын
snorman1911 the electricity should flow just through the wires. Somewhere on that circuit, inside the PCM the wire has shorted out, and the short is in the PCM and not external. The only way to fix it is to replace the PCM
@glasser28195 жыл бұрын
@@mikesullivane30 the PCM has an electronic switch to control open or ground... but it sometimes gets stuck in between: with a blown .50¢ transistor - Replace it and your good to go. or... replace the computer and blow it up again by bad solenoid... expensive way !!😂

DanielJaegerFilms excellent video. I don't have all that fancy testing technology but I've been expecting a faulty pcm because I get all kinds of dashboard lights along with erratic electrical problems like power seats moving on their own or door open lights when doors are closed. I thought the car was demonic possessed but I realize it just has a bad brain :)
@joemarotta22375 жыл бұрын
So well explained, and I would bet I'm having the same issue with my 99 Durango, PO443. The purge valve runs some times and not others, engine running.. I'll check the voltage from the hot on the valve and ground. Now the PCM controls the ground, so if the ground is weak the 12v+ will also be weak, I believe is what your describing. If I'm reading you wrong you might be kind to let me know. I'll review the last part of video again. Thanks so much.. From Joe M
