Thank you so much for this fix. I've been getting the check fuel fill inlet message for couple years on my 2010 Escape, but no repair shop ever pointed out what needed to be fixed. The outer edge rubber seal on mine is brittle and mostly cracked off and missing like you showed. Such an easy fix. Now the inlet bowl is really dirty and another video showed how to clean that with silicone spray and cloth.

That part doesn’t protect from vacuum leaks

It’s just protects the filler from getting debris in
