Wow that’s what you take from the whole video, gotta say ur very deep and really a great listener. Personally didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. If I’m not wrong this is a genuine sincere debate, it’s kinda natural that you would love for the other person to understand your various points, it’s not like he hasn’t done that when talking with others as well, men or woman, so that’s kinda an unnecessary shallow comment. Also as others commented earlier I think for men being called a man vs boy brings so much more pleasure and fulfillment than for a woman to be called that, just a natural thing like there’s a need for a boy to want to turn or become or be called a man in order for him to feel more recognized or fulfilled. Like I’m 26 and I sometimes find it a bit strange If someone’s talking about me for instance and goes like yeah that woman over there, it’s kinda uncomfortable, but like I don’t mind being called a girl, it doesn’t make me think I’m a child or haven’t reached my full potential as a woman, not really, I know what I am (personally I prefer other words like guys and gals/ladies perhaps but that’s besides the point). But for some reason I doubt a man at 26 would like that very much and it’s what it is, doesn’t mean this is an example of societal prejudice of woman or whatever no that I don’t believe that thats an actual thing present to a certain degree. I added the second point cuz of the pro vocative intent it seemed to me of ur choice of using “little lad” as a description, like I wonder if u actually think ur funny.

Females are often called 'girls' because females idolise YOUTH: they associate it with beauty. Most women like this name. Males are often called 'men' or 'guys' because males idolise MATURITY: they associate it with strength and independence. Most men like being called men. That's it. No oppression here. @Prof S I'm anti-feminist and I still agree with the man/woman you called stupid. Just treat us like adults. It really isn't that difficult, and I don't like being called a girl. Girls calling themselves girls is different from a guy saying "hey girl" to a grown woman.

Don't make assumptions about a country that you've only been in for 6 weeks. Just because there are more men who prefer going to cafés than women, it doesn't mean that they are being oppressed. It is a matter of culture and it simply implies that women in that specific culture prefer doing different things, considering that there is no law in Morocco whatsoever that prohibits women from going to cafés.
@Incandescence5552 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm a Moroccan national and lamentably her insight was not as myopic or as biased as you've anticipated. There is a cafe culture dominated by men who will often use it as an escape from the responsibilities and vicissitudes of marital and family life. And no this is not from someone who hates Morocco, just an honest reflection surely shared by many in the kingdom. However, for balance, women are not pushovers over there and can be tough especially in the domestic sphere. But there are epidemic levels of sexual harassment, sexual assault, prostitution, divorce and breakdown of family values that display a severe rupture and aberration to the Islamic and prophetic paradigm. And Allah knows best

I’m a female and I don’t understand feminism. I mean we are not victims of men’s actions. What happens to one person doesn’t happen to all - why generalise? A word is a word and it’s what you make of it. Girls, boys, women, men .. why is this such a big deal? Contrary to what people on the outside may think - from what I’ve experienced and from what I’ve read in the Quran - Islam treats a women like a Malika (Queen)

The reason for generalization is that general rules exist or existed. For example, women couldn't go to medical school in many places in the past in the US. So, refusing to accept an individual woman is a harm to her, but the RULE is a harm to all women.

There are places in the world where women can marry more than one. Since their cultural and religion differs its okay. In lands populated by those who follow Christianity or Islam that wouldn't be condoned because we follow the guidance from God versus or own desires.

in a way the woman is trying to dictate how we address women. and in that way she's kind of stepping on freedom of speech. I mean I get what she saying. but at the same time she is trying to tell us how we should talk. that is in line with oppression.
@jslj57746 жыл бұрын
Comparing what she said was oppression to a black person being called the N word is a false eqivalence. Women through out the ages have never complained over being called girls, this is the first time I even hear it being called a problem, they have never suffered and this word ''girl'' used against them to break them down. While the N word has been and continues to be a powerful tool of oppression.
@jslj57746 жыл бұрын
False equivalence is a logical fallacy where there appears to be a logical equivalence (usually in quantity and quality of evidence) between two opposing arguments, but when in fact there is one side has substantially higher quality and quantity of evidence. However, there is no equivalence between the two sides of a “debate” when one is supported by evidence, and the other side has no evidence, or evidence of low quality. from some site

There is actually a lot about Islam that I learned through this, like how Allah is referred to and gender definition. I find it very fascinating.

On the language note it's important to realize that in contrast to English, all semetic languages have 2 genders - masculine and feminine; there is no neutral or neuter gender. The default gender to use is masculine unless the thing in question is feminine in reality (is of the female gender) or the word is considered feminine in the language, and in the case of arabic grammar all non-human objects are feminine in the plural form even if the singular form is masculine. - Nobody in the ancient world or today as a speaker of Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic or otherwise would think that using the masculine pronoun for God implies he has a gender by use of the language itself; however if someone were to use a feminine pronoun it would In English using 'He' for God is also understood to not denote gender in the 'Abrahamic religions', except by proponents of anthropromorphism (if you believe Christ is God like in trinitarian christianity, then he is male under that belief ), or various polytheistic faiths that have dieties that are like the creation and seen as humanoids or animals. The only problem with using 'It' for God in English is that the pronoun is usually for non-intelligent beings like animals or plants, or for inanimate objects so it carries that connotation. Otherwise it's not a big deal really to use 'He' or 'It' if one's intended attribution to God is befitting to his uniqueness and perfection.

Exactly. The cultural marxists (feminists, liberals..) will come for these next. Once they've destroyed English they will set their sites on french (already starting), spanish, hebrew, arabic... The differences in objects that early language-forming homo-sapiens happened to describe using the two genders (yes trolls only 2), could quite as easily been described as "Day" & "Night", "Sun & Moon", "Earth & Sky", "Fire & Water", "West & East".... (Where's your Patriarchy Oppressor-Victim dichotomy in those, Oh feminist?) This level of denial of nature and disengagement from reality shows how far this ideology is poison. Room for alliance here.

Why do these people feel the need to control the discourse in such a manner down to even verbs or nonuse that they want others to use? "You have to speak like this and use these words". Who is trying to oppress who here? Just because they are the fringe minority does not necessitate that they are someone how being oppressed regardless of the paradigm they have invented for themselves.
