If we take only physics EV's work better in thin air. So higher altitude will give noticeable improvement. Humidity also makes air more heavy. ICE vehicles hate altitude as there is less air available. There is not a lot of difference below 60mph. But Tesla goes much faster during drag.
@ph4tboy8 жыл бұрын
turbo cars also hate hot air. I'm sure if you raced in the heat of summer, many highly tuned turbo cars would be significantly slower than otherwise, giving the Tesla even more of a margin.

They'll roll out a serious AP upgrade with the upcoming 125kWH cars next summer ;-) Would be something if they'd offer those in a regular 125 and 125D, for some even more range. 400+ miles, by some margin!
@azalru8 жыл бұрын
Those Teslas coming out with autopilot 2.0 hardware before the model 3 are already outdated since they don't have the new 2170 battery chemistry. They said after the Model 3 is released, they will add the new cells to the Model S/X line up.
@Cloxxki8 жыл бұрын
azalru I suspect that if the cell manufacturing ramps up before Model 3 is ready, Model S and X again will lead the way in technology. As promised in general. Understand that 2170 cells are so much more affordable that they must push as many as they can. What better than to cram many as possible into existing products, being sold around the clock?

estaban americano Tests conducted at the drag strip, by The Tesla Channel, and via VBox (DragTimes), confirm the P100 is capable of over 124 mph to the 1/4 mile. And, considering the P100D went into production only recently (few people own this model, and few tests have been conducted to this point), who's to say that the car isn't capable of 125mph to the 1/4 mile?

Probably been asked 1000 times, but have you tried it on slicks?
@DragTimes8 жыл бұрын
the car doesn't spin at all, slicks wouldn't help... :)
@ThiagoMarquardt8 жыл бұрын
The asphalt in the drag strip is already very adherent. And in the rain this car can do 0-60 in 2,7s!
@UTUBESUCK6668 жыл бұрын
How about traction control prevent the spin by limiting the output and thus slowing the car down, so you do not even realize it could actually go faster with slicks? Can you disable traction control to test this hypothesis? Even better, put slicks on and test anyway!
@henke28 жыл бұрын
Maybe narrower slicks would help with less weight and less resistance keeping the same traction? I see you use aftermarket rims that are lighter then the stock Tesla wheels. That probably makes some too.

do the p100d get better milage i know they have more power but to they go longer distance
@Mario-1198 жыл бұрын
Yup, they do. The bigger battery in the P100D means more power and better range. They get a tad over 300 miles on a charge IIRC.
@Cloxxki8 жыл бұрын
Compared to the old P90DL, quite a bit more extra range, It seems they did better than add 11.1% of extra cells. From 266mi (pre-refresh?) to 315 (official), 322 when new as you saw. 18.4%-21.0% increase in stead of expected 11.1%. Apparenty Tesla are going to quit overstating their battery capacity. insideevs.com/tesla-model-s-comparison-chart-with-range-acceleration-prices/ Anyone know how many cells the 100kWh consists of?

I have a question ????????????????. Please help. My new Tesla P100D Rear motor was acting up the car would drive fast but not as fast as a 90D. Every once in a while it would go quicker than average. For no reason. Then ((( BANG ))) hey loud clanking noise and the screens said rear drive motor disabled reduced speed it got me home and when I turn the car off that was it now it will not go anywhere. About 1000 miles on the car. They want to put in a new motor. I am completely freaked out by this. I don't like the idea of my new car being worked on much less the entire motor taking out and replaced. Have you ever heard of something like this. Just a little freaked out. Thank you in advance // Voice to text

Wesley Green I believe not only the generator was internal combustion, but so was the truck hauling it.... all these electric cars do is use something else's energy.
@skarpheinnsmundsson97416 жыл бұрын
And do you think that petrol/diesel just magically appears in the tanks of ice cars? of course electric cars need to get the power from somewhere(this being an extreme case obviously cause he was topping off to race) but the eco footprint of an electric car is still smaller then a compareable ice cars.
@testy4626 жыл бұрын
except they do, and this thing costs over 100K just for the car. And it breaks down... ALOT. And its not very fast after the launch or say 60 MPH. Seriously a 122 MPH trap isn't jack.
@skarpheinnsmundsson97416 жыл бұрын
BA_300_AAC it does not break down alot, the model S is amongst the most reliable cars in it's class. The X has had problems. And it does not trap high speeds cause it only has one gear so obviously the power will taper off, but still it's doing mid-high tens in the 1/4mile so no matter what the trap speed is it's still impressive as Fuck.

I thought fully charging the battery kills the battery faster, at least that's what i read on the forums.
@killerkat16158 жыл бұрын
fully charging every day for a long time can cause battery degradation, but it's pretty minor. The Model S with the highest miles in the world was charged to 100% everyday and only lost 6% battery capacity

the only way you can beat that car is ur car has to run low ten's in the quarter mile at over 125 MPH trap speed in the quarter.Tesla's do the most damage off the line & in a 8th of a mile.if you are only 3 car lengths behind the Tesla. and you have a car running 1030s or ten seconds flat in the quarter mile. you will catch up and past the Tesla before the quarter mile.but ur car must be dialed in to run back to back low ten second times.

These cars at least have the ability to be clean. It doesn't mean the electricity is always clean
@HassanEido18 жыл бұрын
Nothing is"clean" unless it's renewable energy, even then , you will be using resources to make it work. Was just making a joke, but seriously short of a solar car, nothing is clean made with a solar powered plant, and solar powered resource extraction methods( or whatever renewable energy source availbale at the time).. Currently there is cleaner, and these can be cleaner :)

@cameronbyers31498 жыл бұрын
You do realize even if the car is powered by gasoline, it's roughly 4 times more cleaner and energy efficient, and that's not if you include all of the pollution you aren't creating by driving. "FullyChargedShow" sums this up quite well in their video called "Electric cars are dirty" I recommend you watch it before doing your research, thanks.

Raw power of a DC motor. It's cool to see. Especially how heavy those cars are to haul it's fat ass down a track that fast. For the $MSRP of those things they're a little bit of a one trick pony though. Too fat and overweight hauling those DC motors and battery to be a real sports car to handle corners for their price tag. Plus those motors overheat easy and really drag the charge down if you decide to have some fun with the pedal, hence the 4-5 ton diesel charging truck station just for a day at the track. Still a cool car though. Elon musk or whatever his name is, is a pretty rich guy and has one hell of a development team making fucking space rockets lol. So I'm sure he'll have some more cool shit come out for future Tesla cars.
