SIX Teslas in a drag race line-up? You better believe it!
We’ve got our hands on every performance version of the Model S and Model X. From the P100D through to the Plaid, these are the six quickest Teslas money can buy. The question is, just how different is their performance?
Let’s start with how they compare on paper. The Model S P100D rolls up with dual motors that combine to produce 671hp and 950Nm of torque. It tips the scales at around 2,100kg. As for the Model X P100D, its two motors combine for 534hp and 755Nm, and it’s a fair bit heavier than the Model S, weighing in at around 2,500kg.
Then we have the Ravens. Both come with dual motors, and both the Model S & Model X produce 778hp and 1,140Nm. However, while the Model S weighs 2,255kg, the Model X comes in at 2,552kg.
Then finally we have the Plaids. Both cars have ti-motors, and both produce 1,020hp and 1,420Nm. But just like the Raven, while the Model S weighs in at 2,190kg, the Model X is a whole lot heavier, coming in at 2,464kg.
So it comes as no surprise as to who the favourite is, but just how different will the performance of these cars be? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

To be fair you get used to the p100d, but I still tell people to put their head against the head restraint if it's their first launch. 2.3 0-60 is still very quick. They look slow in this video next to the others

Even if you take the 0-60 without the rolling start, it’s still about 2.6s, so still ranks near the top of the list of fastest accelerating production cars nestled in amongst the usual ‘exotic’ ICE contenders. You definitely get used to it, but doesn’t diminish how impressive that acceleration figure is in isolation.

Taycan turbo gt would beat the plaid but lose to the lucid becuase it has 4 motors and porsche only used 2 due to them caring more about overall performance then just straight line speed. If porsche cared only about straight line speed and put 4 of their motors in a car it would easily be the fastest car on the planet.

16:24 - when i was Circuit Racing, i used a product called 'Rain-X' (comes in a little yellow plastic bottle) and after 2 applications, once you go above 10mph you *NEVER* have to use your wipers, ever. Providing you don't wash it off with your screenwash, or swipe it off with the wipers sweep, it lasts, and lasts, and last Awesome product - I can't recommend it highly enough

Did all P100D's come with Ludricous+? I have a P90D and the original owner paid $10k more to have Ludricous+ which also requires a fuse upgrade. Not sure that P85D's were able to retrofit that option. They only had Insane mode.

@@alangil40 Some P85D was retrofited with Ludi, but it is unclear if that had the same effect as the P90DL. originally they were Insane mode only. I bought one of the first Ludicrous cars in Norway. P100D is found with and without Ludicrous also.

Recently went from a 2022 Model 3 LR to a 2018 Model S 75D. (Long story, but M3 got totaled and wanted to try a different car). The older cars have a huge lump of torque from a dead stop but taper off pretty quickly past 60, whereas the newer cars have a lot more top end pull. You can see this in this drag race. They’re all pretty even from a stop, then the newer cars pull away in order of generation.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing? Clowns are paying $200K+ for glorified Volkswagen beetles (Porsche 911 turbo S) and this beast is much faster at all speeds, can hit 300km/h in 14 seconds (the 2023 911 Turbo S takes 26 seconds to hit 300) and they both have similar track times so you can’t even say “pOrSCHE hAnDLInG” Thank God for Tesla, letting consumers buy cheap vehicles and killing off these old dinosaur companies. What’s interesting is how much performance has fallen off on those P100Ds through the years. In old CarWow videos the S P100 was running high 10s and the X P100 were running mid/low 11s, now they are almost 1.5sec slower and by the end of the video the X P100 looked like it might struggle to beat a golf GTI. Either Carwow just forgot to charge these cars or battery degradation has hit hard.

I think from the quoted power at the start this is a p100d, not p100d with ludicrous or ludicrous+. Not sure what year they came out, mine is a 2018, but I've seen 2019 cars badged as performance which I believe were the change to the raven motor. I would have thought the ludicrous would have been available for more than a year 🤷🏼‍♂️

Battery shouldn't affect power. These are different things. Power decreases in NMC batteries when the battery is nearly deleted. But that's clearly not the issue here. Nothing to do with degradation

@@Cyrribrae the batteries 100 figure is the kWh rating (size/capacity) the ludicrous upgrade allowed more power to the motor for limited periods of time, it also conditions the batteries (heats if cold) and runs the pumps/ fans to prevent overheating
