I really love the attention that is put on rowing in Gb. Here in Italy we're treated a little bit like curling players
@LSERCAlex4 жыл бұрын
wow that's a bummer man - here there's a massive rowing scene. At university there were loads of boats and a big social side, and here in London there are 20+ clubs and the river is always alive with boats doing pieces against each other, launches zipping past, etc
@elio92344 жыл бұрын
@@LSERCAlex even here we have many clubs, just in Rome there are about 15/20 rowing clubs. But many people ignore rowing, i mean it isn't that popular as in Gb. The only rowers that are known are the Abbagnale brothers
@LSERCAlex4 жыл бұрын
@@elio9234 I think one of the reasons why it's more recognized here is that many of the elite went to schools and universities where rowing was a big thing, so there's a social side to it as well and people will attend regattas as part of the summer season... not just Henley but also smaller ones like Molesey and Kingston. It's a good excuse for a day out next to the river

And that's with Italy producing the best boats in the world and also very competitive crews...

You can see why Redgrave was elite even at that as age. His power on an erg might have been reduced but the amazing effortless technique made the boat fly.

I had the privilege to row on the same water as Steve and Matt in a Heads trace around 95/6. They and Tim and James are absolute 'animals' in the nicest possible way. I was proud to share the water with them, one of the highlights of my time rowing. It is, in my opinion, just about the greatest team sport there is.💪

Tim seemed easy going however, its easy to see how much he cared and was determined to get back after his injuries. This is my second time watching this and I still enjoyed it quite abit.

As long as someone is below 6 minutes they have a chance to be on an Olympic boat. Rowing on water is and the boat going fast is much more than a 2k score. I believe Redgrave barely made 6min at that time. But look at him rowing in the boat, he is so balanced and effortless that makes the boat so much faster than an erg monster yanking and pulling hard but making the boat unbalanced.

I'm not sure their overall PB's, but if you want to know their results from the testing: Pinsent (5:42), Cracknell (5:46.9), Foster (5:53.4), Coode (5:53.5 [re-test]), Redgrave (6:10). Source: Four Men in a Boat (Rory Ross / Tim Foster). Not sure what Redgrave's re-test was, it was not mentioned
