Hello Jimmy you should write a book about dpf catalyst etc and translate ut on few language. You are the Maestro of DPF. Thank you a lot❤

Thanks Jimmy , learned a bit there.

The thing about these is that they have the SCR catalyst first and then the DPF, not the other way around like you'd think, so regardless if the DPF is broken or not the catalyst is always covered in soot.

I’d be seriously pissed off if I had to replace my dpf / cat at 44k …. I wonder what fails in the euro6 dpf that allows it to let soot particles through rather than get blocked. Good vid cheers.

Worked at Citroen for a while there, just absolute junk, the normal cause for this however is the injectors overfuelling damages the dpf/cat its a common problem with both the 2.0 and 1.5

My 2015 euro 6 (none ad blue version) 1.5 tdci focus has soot in the tail pipe (like the finger test in this video), would this mean my dpf has gone bad at 65k? Runs perfect and no smoke visible.

Genuine question, how are people getting clogged DPFs so quickly? Are they driving them around at 1200 rpm or idling for hours each day? Most of my family have Euro 5/6 diesels and despite them being quite slow drivers none of them have had a blocked DPF. This has been going on for years now.
@hughmarcus15 ай бұрын
Basically yes, a lot of the time. Many of them never see the open road & the amount of people who let them idle for long periods is shocking.
@vxvii90695 ай бұрын
@@hughmarcus1 it’s interesting my diesel tells me to shift up to 6th at like 45. The RPMs would barely be above idle. I usually keep mine around 2k and haven’t had an issue - even though most of my driving is around town. I’d be interested to see if newer automatics with less aggressive shift patterns and “eco driving” are responsible. It’s rather counterproductive if you then have to take it for a blast to blow the cobwebs out. My dad’s Toyota shifts itself well past 2k whereas my TDI indicates to shift up stupidly early. Very suspicious that the super low revs the modern cars recommend is responsible for premature clutch/flywheel wear and the dpf/egr problems. All that said they’re a waste of time and money anyway. Too bad it’s illegal to remove/bypass them 😕 *edit* A modern exhaust has a DPF, catalytic converter, centre resonator and a silencer/muffler. Who’d have though that piling filter after filter on an exhaust would cause problems. It’s quite ridiculous in my opinion

That doesn’t work for a euro6. As Jimmy pointed out the DPF sits in front of the cat. They’re a joint unit. If you take the innards out of the DPF you’ll clog the cat & you’re back to square one.

@@Ben-in6qh that’sc because your car has an early version of a cat, not the sophisticated SCR versions there are now. Listen to what Jimmy says about that van.
