Honestly, when I heard that they were cutting FES and Portable content, I was more worried about the ‘smaller’ bits like Aigis’ social link and the Elizabeth dates, since those made the game a lot more potent. In the OG IGN interview, they made it sound like ALL Portable and FES content was gone, and Aigis’ link and a bunch of other new social stuff was originally FES content. Aigis’ SL makes the ending (and the answer) a lot more potent, and the game feels incomplete without it. But in a new interview this morning they confirmed that they’re only getting rid of the Answer and FemC, and not necessarily axing everything from Portable and FES, so we’re probably still getting the extra FES and Portable goodies. It looks like they’re only interested in making a solid reimagining of the canon Journey, and I can totally respect it. I’m so hyped!!!

They're also adding new side stories in a "way back when" kinda tone, hopefully that means characters like the Strega trio will be further developed. @@MaxusFox23 I hope so too. Honestly, a revamped version of the Journey with all of the little bits from FES and Portable along with some writing boosts and new content would be perfect. Male SEES social links, fleshing out characters that could’ve used more screentime like Ikutsuki and Strega, and new events/content would make this an easy 10/10 for me, P3 as is is so good man! See, I wonder if they’d lock the Answer away with a rerelease. I get them rereleasing P4 as P4G and P5 as P5R, since those literally change the plot of the base game significantly. The story of Marie and Kasumi are intertwined with the main plot, and there are significant social links and plot-changing elements that make a rerelease at least somewhat justified. But the Answer just isn’t twisted into the main plot. I like it, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a very ‘tacked-on’ part of the game in that the Journey never teases its existence. It makes a lot more sense in my mind to make it DLC, since it’s not nearly as game-changing as the other rereleases. If they do rerelease it just with Kitone and the Answer, I’ll likely just wait and see if Crystahl plays it instead of doing it myself.

I'm overall so hyped for all of the Persona news. After the 25th anniversary, when they said to stay tuned for future announcements, I didn't think anything of it, but now I'm wondering if all of these announcements were supposed to be for the anniversary instead, but got postponed due to the pandemic? Seems like at least one of these was supposed to be available besides just the p3p and p4g ports, but the important thing is they're here now! When I first heard no FES or femc, I was super disappointed because I was worried they were just keeping the social links the exact same and not have Aigis, but according to some recent stuff it SEEMS like that's not the case? In that they're adding to and expanding on scenes, which could mean that they're reworking social links and/or giving new social links to the rest of the cast. Fingers crossed we get more news and trailers soon!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who isn’t raging about the Persona 3 Reload not having Femc and the Answer. I’m a fan of both, Femc is a treasure of a protagonist, and the answer gives closure (like you said), which is always nice. But the main part I’ve always loved is the Journey, and now for it to be done in a way that would let more people access the story that has affected my life so much makes me so glad for others to enjoy it their own way

This was such a great week gamers are eatin' good this year! It's great for me seeing all the discourse around P3 Reload positive or negative and seeing all peoples thoughts. This remake is especially important for me because it's themes and messages are so ingrained in my core and the main thing I want above all else in this remake is to absolutely sell those themes and hit people in their emotions like a truck.

This is a healthy take, and I completely agree. I grew up with FFVII, and one thing I always wanted was to see the original game reach the level of ambition of its extended universe, because some of PSone VII... is rough... like ARCHAIC, slow, and the translation is a tad ableist too? Same goes for Abe's Exoddus versus Oddworld SoulStorm - seeing a studio commit YEARS of work to a concept that originally was pushed into a 9 month crunch development. Change is good, and the result is allowed to be different PROVIDED the heart and soul of the game is still preserved or built upon. And I think the hesitation people are feeling about Reload is akin to those two examples I mentioned. If P3Re can expand on the original without relying on different experiences in two different ports of P3, it deserves a chance. THAT is the exciting part.

I am excited to see P3R and how a lot of the characters will look like/sound like now. My top 4 I'm waiting on are Shinji, Chidori, Natsuki, and the Bookstore owners. Also, P5T is going to be so amazing. I'm glad that they are using the PQ model style, hopefully as a hint hint nudge nudge to them remastering/remaking PQ and PQ2 onto modern consoles (especially if the Etrian Odyssey remasters were any indication of them trying to figure a way to make it work). I'm looking forward to finding out more about the two new characters (in case you missed it, there is a second character next to Haru in the art) and seeing how the story unfolds. Also, hoping (probably unlikely) that the dlc story is an Akechi story.

This is the thing with FemC: She was added by a team that had freedom to add anything as long as it could fit the UMD. Technically she feels way more as a P4 character and protagonist to me. P3 is about loss, the fact that she can break at least three pivotal points that make the story progress and give the character development to other people, just shows she was not meant to be there. Remember you will die. Remember you are mortal. Remember to live every single day as it's the last one you have. Remember to enjoy the people in your life, because they will not be here forever. Those are the messages the Original P3 wanted to give, and then P3P comes with a character that should be depressed and sad she essentially had no childhood nor a good life because of the loss she suffered, instead she's sassy, happy, bubbly and super outgoing, she's the complete oposite of the MC, and that's fine. But she changes the focus of the story downright to her own UI, everything is happier with her, you can Date a child with her too by the way, but also, you can make Shinji live somehow, which breaks Akihiko's character development AND it breaks one of the most emotional scenes of the game, it also breaks Amada's character, and the fact you can utterly destroy Jumpei's love for Chidori, knowing she lives as long as you push him towards the right path, giving the guy the chance to give her happiness, is just sad. Yes, it's funny to have her in the game, it's a fun thing, but it's not the story the writters wanted for P3. And as soon as P3P was released, two years after the survey from ATLUS asking what Peronsa they should remake, I said this to my friend: "This release means one of two things: Persona 3 Remake will never exist, OR, this is their way to tell people, FemC will NOT be in a Remake because of how much extra work that would be. An entire new game but this time instead of just images for a visual novel instead is an entire cast of characters and scenes and events in 3D just for her? Nah. They won't do it" And it's like I said: Persona 3 is about loss, and with her, most of the biggest pivotal parts of P3 can be negated and to me, if I was a writter who wrote a masterpiece, and someone else added a character to that that changes most if not all of the most important, deep and sad moments that makes the story memorable, just for the funzies, I would be angry as hell. Imagine if P4 added a FemC, but instead of being all happy and outgoing like Yu, she's super sad, depressed and was just a bad person because she can, making fun and interesting moments of the game super boring, but most of all, making important moments such as Nanako's scenes to be completely negated by some arbitrary choice she can do in her route, just to make people happy Nanako never goes through what she do, therefore, skipping the entire Dungeon related to her too. Some people would love that, but frankly, P4 story is good as is, P3 is good as is too. FemC waas a necessity for a boring game on PSP, but it's obvious she was never seen by Atlus as a definitive character, the fact she appears in Persona Q which is a spin-off game, but she don't appear on Dancing, shows that Makoto is the one they would bet on, that's why I was NEVER doubting she would not be added. If she was though, I would be fine with it, but reallistically? I even doubt she would be added on an extended version of the game that will eventually exist.

The energy she projects is a mask, a way to hide her true self away and try to spare others from what she feels. And she, as a concept is just a better character. She connects with everyone and can social link all her friends. Minato doesn’t give a shit unless he can fuck them.

These are all very good points, but I believe there are still merits to having FeMC that don't boil down to simply "oh it'd be fun to have her". While she does lighten the mood of the game a lot thanks to her unique soundtrack and pink colored UI, her route still explores themes that are present in the main game. Kotone may be a complete 180 from Makoto, but it's implied that her bubbly personality is a coping mechanism, if her dialogue with Pharos is anything to go by. There are genuinely resentful dialogue options whenever interacting with Pharos, which implies that when the mask slips, FeMC is just as depressed as Makoto, although maybe not as apathetic. The party member social links also go a long way in making it feel like Kotone actually gets closer to SEES as time goes on. Makoto is never shown to have any sort of real relationship with any of the guys except for Junpei (that's half of the cast!), and he can only pursue romantic relationships with the women. Thankfully the writing is solid enough to compensate for this issue,, but Kotone's social links add so much more depth to these characters, and so much more meaning to her sacrifice. Is Shinji surviving bullshit? Yes. Is Chidori surviving bullshit? Yes. Is Ken's romance bullshit? YES OH MY GOD AAAAAAH. However, I don't believe these are enough to ruin her, her story or the message the game is trying to deliver. Shinji is peak fiction for me so I'm biased, but her social link and romance with Ryoji is frankly poetic and one of the most beautiful things about her story, and I don't think it's fair to treat FeMC as a throwaway, because while her route does have missteps, it ultimately adds value to the game and the story it tries to tell.

The Persona 3 controversy is out there and fans aren't happy about this decision. This is a Persona 3 remake a 80+ HOURS! game by the way and fans complaining already about cut content annoys the hell out of me because fans of Persona 3 are already at their early 20s or 30s and they should have jobs by now making money for themselves or paying for their school and if they don't then why are you gaming then. And as for the FeMC, ATLUS will most likely release a definitive version of P3R like with P5 to P5R which will probably release in 2025.

I'm not too upset about The Answer not being included with Persona 3 Reload, especially since it can easily be added as DLC later. Also, the FemC isn't a big deal to me either, because near as I can tell, the biggest draw for that is dating the guys, which I'm not interested in doing anyways. And although The Answer isn't part of the game, I hope they'll at least include Aegis' S-Link, because while I only ever played FES, I am fairly certain she had no S-Link in the original release of the game since her S-Link in FES was the Aeon Arcana, which is Atlus speak for "bonus character".

Please please play Cyberpunk. I know it had a rocky release, but they've released so many updates for it to fix all the bugs, it runs great on PS5, and it's genuinely a story and a message that has stuck with me more than almost any other. I don't know if it would be your usual style of game, but I LOVE Cyberpunk and I'm so excited for the expansion

Xbox showcase is the best showcase of all the event. To My beloved Payday series finally getting its third game Ofcourse, Persona 3 reload. WhoactuallycaresaboutP5T To basically Persona 6 but not really And of course, The Bakery of Ichiban. Best showcase of the year.

Really hope you do stream Cyberpunk. I think it’s one of the most touching games ever made with some of the most real characters and dialogue. Every scene hits the exact tone and feels it needs to. Also the world lore is incredible because it’s based on an old table top RPG

I kinda hope at least they do dlc for femc and the answer even though that would kinda suck but if we get it eventually i would be pretty happy i just felt more connected to femc over makoto and hope they will eventually add both even if it means another persona 3 version in like 2 years i'd be happy but still excited for the remake kinda hope they at least give some of the guys from sees social links tho

So, while Akechi wasnt in the Tactica trailer, they announced Day 1 DLC. So he’s coming. Sumire, Zenkichi and Sophie are big maybes. Also, Fes added the Elizabeth dates. I’m sad.
