Another fun thing to note is that the Flux Raider can take *any* standard sized P320 slides/mags. This includes the .40 cal stuff. Now that in itself may not be all that interesting as .40 is a bit of a niche round, but if you do not care about that you might also want to note that if a gun takes a .40 it also takes a .357 Sig as a drop in barrel replacement. I am not the type of person who cares, so I built a raider in .357 Sig. Now *that* is a PDW. Plus you can still throw a 9mm slide on there if you want to practice for cheaper. .357 Sig is not exactly plinking ammo.

The maximum length stock really puts the gun into the "same size as a genuine SMG", which seems counterproductive. It looks slightly longer with the stock stowed than the 1990s MP5K-PDW with a side folded stock. The minimum length stock seems the most in line with the design intent of the chassis, although I wonder if reducing the vertical length to about even with the bottom of the grip would compromise its utility as a stock all that much. The medium length is probably a practical compromise. I also wonder if there is an extended slide and barrel combo that comes right to the end of the chassis. Since you can't make the gun any shorter than the frame, might as well use ALL the frame length forward and eke out an extra 50 FPS or so, if you can.
@BenfromFlux4 күн бұрын
Good thoughts. The 5.5 inch full size threaded barrel is flush with the end of the frame, I have various comp designs that would make the slide aesthetically flush. It’s still very small with the 1.5”, much smaller than SMGs. The 1.5” stock is the most used variant by SOF.
@MrTrilbe4 күн бұрын
This really does look like "a solution looking for a problem", or "a we could so we did" or more likely "how can we get someones bean counter happy", there's better SMG's, better carbines, and better PDW's for its role, it's good points are you already have a SLA with Sig and you have Sig mags and 9mm, downsides is you have a P320's range, stopping power, and penetration, and I would rather have any one of the things it lacks over all of it's good points be that stay away, stay down, or stay in cover.

@tiredsoldier4 күн бұрын
Y'all folks comparing it to SMGs and going "So what?" are missing the point. Even at SIG prices, it's still lots of kilobucks less than the entry price for a 40+ year old SMG, not to mention finding parts when something breaks while you're converting dollars to holiness. Start thinking of it as a pistol-caliber carbine which fits in the nightstand drawer and you'll find it's legitimate raison d'être. Which would you rather have when investigating something that went bump in the night: two hands on one of these or one hand on a (pick your favorite 9mm pistol)?
@edwardscott32624 күн бұрын
PDWs always suffer from the "Hey that's too cool for the losers who it was designed for." effect. They end up on the tip of the spear where people find out it's still just a slightly easier to shoot pistol. Which shouldn't be shocking but as generations of PDW design has shown. It always is.

While it is not much shorter than a compact SMG in an intermediate caliber but also much more bulky than a pistol, I think there is a good reason behind this PDW: One single gun can be an officer´s sidearm (in pistol config with a normal mag) and a PDW for vehicle/crew/policing uses. Eases maintenance and ammo logistics a lot!
@silphonym3 күн бұрын
Yeah, that's probably its biggest selling point for military contracts. Simplified logistics across sidearms and PDWs.
@Supercohboy2 күн бұрын
Yes. The pistol to PDW conversion frames all fit this paradigm. This fad exists to sell the military/militaries another breakable doohicky that they'll waste millions on, if we're being honest. It's still a neat fad that's resulting in some interesting products for civvies, but I think this is a stepping stone towards the repopularization of micro-SMGs/machine pistols. Modern materials and ergonomics made possible through new production methods = a perfect combination to make "micro-PDWs" a more feasible concept.
@sbreheny3 күн бұрын
It looks like it could be advantageous if the stock had two pieces - the actual butt plate and a cheek weld pad which sits part-way along the rails. You could make it slide into place automatically when the stock is deployed and then slide back up against the buttplate when you push the stock back into the chassis to store it. This would allow the collapsed length to be just as short as if the cheek weld pad were integrated into the buttplate, but still allow a cheek weld further down the rails.

The stowage for the hex wrench should be universally copied by EVERYONE. Thank you Ian, for another good morning vidio. 😊

That's basically the grandson of the Hotchkiss Universal. :D But my they did a great job! If you use that along with the GM6 Lynx you get the most telescoping setup ever.

The carbine module for a pistol is a concept I don't really get. If you plan to SBR the chasis, why not just buy a ready made pistol carbine? It will give you greater barrel length improving acuracy and velocity. This to me is like putting giant rear tires on a car and calling it a dragster.

14:00 dual holsters to use for both your rifle and pistol for the night match? :D

This is really cool and I’m usually a hater on the whole mag as a front grip thing but it just looks sick on this platform
@windwalker57654 күн бұрын
It looks like an interesting system, but I need to see how it works in a holster with a spare magazine in the holder. I feel like if you get to the point that you can't easily carry it holstered, if you're wearing it slung, you might as well go to a compact PCC like the CMMG Banshee.

There are a couple companies that make after market holsters. The full size raider is mostly designed around being a bag gun. However, our 365 version has a holster and is very concealable IWB.

the most forgotten thing about the flux raider, was the idea of actually selling them to paying customers instead of hype beast e-flexers. It truly deserves it's place in the gucci graveyard.
@WillardLongshot-ks8yg4 күн бұрын
It's not forgotten, nor is it in the graveyard. It's a very exciting piece of equipment, and people are already buying them. Everything from Sig is expensive, and whinging about it like an entitled child isn't going to change that.

We’ve done a fair bit of scaling the last few months to the point where if you want one, they are readily available most weeks after a restock. We’ve also made sure to always prioritize customer sales. We’ve barred many influencers and employees from getting units in the past until they are readily available or at least more available than every 6 months.

you should also check out the Flux 365, it has a flip out brace that deploys automatically when drawn

Stupid question and I'll take however many L's I need to 😂 but is that chassis only for the 9mm? I know the 320 also has a .45 version, that's why I'm asking

Because your rainbow unicorn bro.... Any other questions!
@zerofactor78714 күн бұрын
You could always get a Recover 20/20 brace for a 1911...with Wilson Combat 10 rounders and a dot mounted to the chassis it's cyberpunk as hell and highly efficacious
@mabs95034 күн бұрын
Recover 2020 also makes a Glock 21 chasis and Vektor makes stendos tho I'm not sure exactly what capacity.
@Noximillien-LHorloger4 күн бұрын
prob only 9 mm bcs the chassis is made with injection mold, to make one for 45 they would need an entire new mold which would be very expensive if there arent enough people who have them
@immikeurnot4 күн бұрын
Only the 9/.40 version. Magazines and even FCU dimensions are different for the .45 guns.

4:39 I wonder if the spring to deploy the sometimes a stock is also strong enough to pull the slide.
@titter36484 күн бұрын
This would be a ideal fit for a micro prism sight. That way you get some magnification, a BDC reticle, and a etched reticle in case the battery runs out. And micro prisms is compact enough to fit on the short top rail. Eye relief will not be a problem because the rail is really close to your face anyway.

"whatever your purpose for having this is" is the question.

Ok, serious question. The thing looks fun and cool, but if i want a PDW for the D in PDW, there is no reason to buy this thing, right?

“Personal defense weapon”? There’s a fair bit of people that enjoy them as their “go to” home defense firearm.

And here I was thinking Ian was done with Space Magic Future guns when he did that H&K G11 video. Damn thing looks straight out of an 80s Van Damme movie (Damme thing?)

I haven't shot mine yet, I am planning on buying a fullsize 320 and getting a threaded barrel for it and using that slide as I want to shoot it suppressed. In turn I will have a nice comped 320 pistol as well
@Sabretoothsquirrel4 күн бұрын
I was wondering in the first video how one would efficiently and comfortably rack the slide in that chassi. This video have answered with an apparent; sorta efficiently and seemingly not so comfortably.

There are a couple companies such as TacDev that make a charging handle specifically for the Raider. Definitely give them a look.

How practical is it to carry all the bulk on your thigh/hip?
@theprojectproject014 күн бұрын
Maybe not that practical? But it does give a great excuse for a Sam Browne crossbody sling for your belt.
