P3D v4.5 | Farewell to the TUI Boeing 757 | Departing London Gatwick for the last time

Well, it's back to P3D briefly for this short feature. This is probably the last time that P3Dv4 will appear on the channel. After almost 3.5 years since moving to P3D from FSX, Microsoft Flight Simulator has arrived with a bang, and to be honest it's hard for P3D to compete when it comes to graphics and realism. It will be a while until we see PMDG's aircraft arrive in the new sim, so I may invest in P3Dv5.2 in the meantime, but that's for another day.
Back to the video - well, sadly it speaks for itself. Many of you will know that TUI, one of only 3 UK operators of the passenger variant, retired its last 757 2 weeks ago. In the early hours of 4th October, G-OOBB touched down in Birmingham, arriving from Paphos as BY7723, for the very last time. This brings to an end 13 years of service with TUI/Thomsonfly, and many more years in their previous careers with Air 2000 and First Choice Airways.
The venerable 757 is hugely popular with pilots and air traffic controllers, due to its unparalleled climb rate, enabling it to blast out of crowded airspace and be on its way almost as quickly as the business jets! Built on the same basic fuselage design as the 737, 727 and 707, the 757 actually has more in common with the widebody 767 under the skin, both being introduced during the early 80s, and sharing a common cockpit layout.
Here we see G-OOBF departing Gatwick on a cold and misty Autumn morning, in the orange light of the early dawn sun, bound for Skiathos.
