I have a Nvidia 1080 GPU (GEFORCE GTX 3060) and would like to know how much of these settings will pertain my my GPU. I've viewed you older video P3D5 2022 my settings and setup and I think in that video there were a few areas that were set differently. So, given my GPU, which video would apply? Thanks

One from 2022 or before
@JosephFeleppa5 ай бұрын
At 22:35 you mention that you have your Output Dynamic Range on Full. I remember you saying in a older video that the Full setting is only for HD monitors. Did that change? (I don't have a HD monitor). Also wouldn't enabling Bathymetry be useful when flying over water? Because if the water was deep it would be a very dark blue color. If you were flying over shallow water it would be a much lighter blue color.
@AdamJPestridge5 ай бұрын
Full Dynamic is if you have a HDR enabled monitor, limited can be used if you have a 1080P monitor or HD monitor. Bathymetry is only for underwater, the water displayed in the sim is done with textures on top of the waveworks animations so that it can display shallow or deep waters anyway.

Why does the HDR lighting grayed out when Enhanced Atmospherics is selected? I have a 1080 GPU (Nvidia geforce rtx 3060) how much of these setting would apply to my GPU?I I also use this verion of P3D - (P3DV5.4)
@AdamJPestridge2 ай бұрын
its requires HDR to run the Enhanced Atmospherics. Wider more dynamic range of lighting and shadows. The Volumetric Clouds will hit the GPU more than EA will.

Good information, however you have your Tessellation Factor information backwards. Tessellation is a GPU function, not CPU. The higher the setting lets P3D move mesh computations to the GPU instead of the CPU. With your VC, you should have this setting maxed. Thanks.
@AdamJPestridge5 ай бұрын
Thats not how it works sorry..... With the lowered setting, the temps on the CPU go down, when its maxed out, the average temps go up and I can visibly see the CPU usage go up as well. I find the MED setting the best for quality of mesh sharpness and CPU usage, it is explained in the P3D learning library about it. This is what it says about it: The hills, valleys, mountains, and canyons are drawn using real-world digital elevation data. The mesh includes a map of points at different elevations. The more points that get drawn at any time, the more detail in the terrain, and the more computing power required. The higher the slider, the more points you are adding to the mesh, which already contain points if you use 3rd party mesh. Its the CPU that calculates all this. There is a visible difference between the settings, if what you say is true, there would be no difference in visuals between the sliders settings. In the learning library it even shows the difference between the settings with pictures. Maybe it works like that in previous versions of P3D, in v5, it shows in the learning library how it works.

Hi mate, whenever I use p3D v5.4 and I start taxiing or flying, my cpu usage frequently spikes to 100% and maxed out all cores that I have assigned to the sim. No matter how many cores I select, all get maxed out. I have an i9-10900k and don’t get why this is happening. I can’t pan the camera etc because the stutters are insane when this happens.
@AdamJPestridge5 ай бұрын
How many cores do you have? Which ones did you assign? Do you hyperthread your cpu? What’s your settings? If you join my discord, I can help you more easily. The link is in the description box of this video.

Do you have a setup for Fly Tampa EHAM as well since I seem to experince low frames there with a 4080 card

A set up? EHAM works fine for me, I get about 40fps there even with the surrounding TrueEarth Netherlands in.

@@AdamJPestridge aah welp ok. For me around 15-20 at the settings from your video exactly copied. I dont have a 3090. I have a 4080. But should not be too much of a difference. Exept for the 16 vs 24 gb of vram.

Also the default FSX/prepar3d gps that is included. I dont use it much but when I have a plane that includes it. Its bye bye frames for me. Especially when zoom in or out.
