The difference between when to use "lan" and "nan" was most helpful! I'm still a little shaky on "iy/it" and "lan," but I'm sure with practice I'll pick it up.

First, I want to say that you are an amazing teacher! I have learned so much just with the videos you have published because you explain things so clearly and break them down to a basic level. I greatly appreciate the time you have put into this. Right now, I am struggling with the letter R and can't find a clear explanation on how exactly to pronounce it; also, I would like to know the meaning of the words you used before the definite article "an".

Imani, you have to pronounce the letter R most of time like a G. But like an spanish G. For example: Cat= Gato (spanish) So the sound of R in Krèyol is like the sound of the G from "gato".

The R in French and creole is very hard to pronounce for English speakers!! The sound comes from the throat!! I would recommend you listen to native speakers of French and creole and try to mimic how their say it!! Remember, it’s a throatal sound!!’

Hi :). Try this: put a pen between your lips. When you pronounce the "r" in Kreyòl, your tongue stays behind the pen (as in rara). When you pronounce the English "r" as in "rose" -- your tongue can't stay behind the pen (it's moves towards the front of your lips.) Try to say "rat" in English and then "rat" in Kreyòl. It's the same word with the same spelling -- but if you're positoning your tongue correctly -- they should sound different. Mwen espere ke sa a itil. Bon chans, cheri :)

It looks like "Kann nan" should be "kann lan" by her definition of "lan." The same for "fanm nan" and "chanm nan." I find this confusing. At 3:29 she says "...connecting a non-nasal vowel with another non-nasal vowel. I believe those are nasal vowels. Anyway, I love her videos. No one is perfect!

Very helpful learned a lot. One question if you are able to answer. Some haiten creole speakers say "wem Palo " for come here. Why is this .thanks
@frantzwoldyamazan8521
@frantzwoldyamazan8521 4 жыл бұрын
In fact they are saying: "Vini mwen pale ou", with contractions: "Vini'm pale'w", or when you they speak very fast: "vi'm palow" or "M'palo'w". litterally: "Come I tell you". And yes it means : come here!
@mitchpeter5718

Haitians like to use contractions a lot when we speak…I think that can very hard for somebody who’s learning the language!! But at the same time, it can very easy once you become proficient I. The language!!
