Important note for people doing this fight in PF: My NA strat (1-tile) is not currently common in PF. Joonbob has recently put out a video showing the Scripe(Echo) strat that is far more common, so I recommend giving that a watch before jumping into a phase 2 party. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKu3oKdje9StqaM

Thank you, Hector. Regardless of whether data centres/worlds have different strategies of resolving mechanics, I always come back to you because I have not seen anyone else explain *mechanics* so thoroughly. It's frustrating seeing guides that tell you the solution, but not the problem. Keep doing what you do!

I like these guides as they give the mechanics in 'IF >>> THEN' format, which is incredibly easy for me to understand. My raid lead (who's awesome) wont do this so I have to get my lizzard-level intelligent brain to figure out what the fudgenuggetz they're saying. IF you have Short Timer Alpha, THEN go to A IF you have Short Timer Beta, THEN go to B IF you have Short timer Gamma, THEN go to C is soooooo easy to get down. Then when I see "alpha, 8 seconds" I know exactly where to go in an instant rather than trying to calculate 50 different things. soooo much easier to understand.

So many bonus points for highlighting how important it is to mitigate at the end there. Mitigation has been a real pain point this tier, as I think a lot of players are not used to it being the difference between clearing and wiping, so I appreciate any efforts to bring attention to this Another fantastic guide, thanks Hector!

For ice positions, if the player that moves across from the non debuffed roles goes inner, then all the baiters can be fixed without worrying about priority for the remaining two players from the other roles. In your example where DPS have the buffs, it can be: OT H1 | H2 MT | D D If it was supports with the buff, it could be: S S | M1 M2 | R1 R2 In both cases, once you know which role has the buff, everyone can go to fixed positions. The pairs outside the lines can just stack since they are not baiting.

A couple of thoughts: 1) I really like your HC explanations for both phases. I’m glad you called out that HC2 is deterministic in its execution due to the forced green towers in the second set because I think other guides seem to be missing that and it makes things much easier 2) YMMV obviously, but I really would not recommend these natural alignment strats personally (especially for fire). I think it requires more thinking, movement, and the positioning can be a little finicky making a right triangle as opposed to an equilateral one. I also feel the same way about the spread positions for NA2 where the NA marked players are filling in gaps. I think this adds more points of failure and I would not recommend it as a progression strat. Finally, for NA ice adjustment, I would recommend that the person flexing is also the one baiting the ice, so as to reduce the amount of movement they have to do and give yourself a little more leeway for if they move late. Flexers can also preposition regardless of if it’s ice/fire if using the “equilateral triangle” fire strat 3) I notice a lot of suggested spread positions that has the whole party taking a tile each in the first two rows. I would recommend against this because it spreads the party out way more and requires a lot more movement. Use the intersections of the lines on the arena or an octagonal spread instead and keep everyone as close to center as possible for all spreads to minimize movement and maximize ease of healing and mitigation. This is especially relevant for the final mechanic
@HectorHectorson
@HectorHectorson 2 жыл бұрын
Totally fair comments. My group found 1-tile strat to be pretty intuitive and nice for both healers and casters (they basically don't move for ice/fire), but I absolutely see why some groups will prefer something like echo. Definitely a good shout with using intersections for spreads. I was trying to find a balance between ease of heal and ease for a group to remember, but I should have thought of that.
@settonkuu7184
@settonkuu7184 2 жыл бұрын
@@HectorHectorson that makes sense. With the way we do the triangle fire strat, healers and casters also plant regardless of fire/ice and it’s just the tanks/melees that adjust to form the tips of the triangle for fire (or flex for ice). I do see how maybe it’s less intuitive for some people though

Great as always. For the towers, have you seen the Hydi Ai (AKA Haijia) strat? The odd towers are always in the north and the even towers 1 line more south so you can make the puddle bait positioning algorithmic (like a simple limit cut) instead of chaotic.

An unwritten rule has been surfacing in PF parties that, if Gamma is unused for the second set of HC1 towers, they should fuse and make trees. It does nothing good or bad, but people just really like seeing trees if it won't cause a wipe. So if you're unused Gamma and see the other unused Gamma coming at you to fuse, as long as you're sure you're unused, let it happen.

How did people who were doing this raid blind know to combine the Ifrits with the birds to create Phoenixes that would help the raid survive the instant death mechanic? Were there any indicators along the way, or was it just all accidental discovery through trial and error?
@HectorHectorson
@HectorHectorson 2 жыл бұрын
The 'Phoenix buff' was data-mined before the savage was released, so from that working out that Fire + Bird = Phoenix isn't too farfetched. I imagine the intended way to work it out was for raiders to think back to UCoB, where a similar phoenix buff brings you back from death.

YES FINALLY STATIC HC1 SPOTS Long debuff goes to a static spot and short debuff goes to a static spot now people will stop refreshing their debuffs and confusing each other, pf is saved once again. I will say that, much like Gorgon in Phase 1, Tank/tank or healer/healer can get the dominion debuff first/second and the towers can favour any cardinal and players should be prepared for situations where all 4 towers go towards east etc. Also, like elmo, pf is gonna find some way to botch Natural alignment due to the specificity of the spots. I do think the strats are good and fine and especially great for statics, but pf gotta use a bit more brain than usual.

During High Concept 2, is there a reason for the 2 designated ifrit to merge immediately ? Can't they merge after the tethered adds, or even get their markers with the long debuffs, create ifrit while the towers are soaked and immediately merge with garuda ? That would remove the 2 dots for the most part of the mechanic.
@HectorHectorson
@HectorHectorson 2 жыл бұрын
The ifrits come with another debuff that prevents merging for around 25-30s (I forget the exact length). It falls off slightly before you need to make phoenix. You can wait a few seconds to merge, but any longer and you won't be able to make a phoenix in time at the end.

If I had to guess, the Ashing Blaze at the end of NA2 is there purely for fight timeline reasons. As it stands, you're able to do a reopener right after the resurrection, but if there wasn't a mechanic there, your 2 minute abilities might not be up in time. Now, you could just as easily have had a different mech there, but most other mechs in this fight either take much longer to resolve or, in the case of the buster, were already coming up anyway, and they probably didn't want to mess with the other mechs' timings or design a new mech purely for timeline reasons.

For HC1, after soaking the first towers, is there a reason that the unused short letter needs to be hit by the same long letter? Theoretically, could they go to B every time? Would that allow the stacks to always go to A and C without having to look for which one needs a fill?
@HectorHectorson
@HectorHectorson 2 жыл бұрын
A good idea but unfortunately getting hit by a different debuff when you have colours above your head causes an explosion. This means the unused short letter can go stack with their original letter (to make it easier to see which to skip), but not with any other letter.

@HectorHectorson

I think I needed to make it clearer that the part you're referencing was just to illustrate how the colour mixing mechanic works across both high concepts. It's not trying to show the start of HC1. For future videos, I'll try to make that more explicit.

I have not been in phase 2 yet, but studying up. I play MT usually so I want to understand HC1 as I'd have to flex. I did not understand the timing or mechanism of how one determines the "skipping" to alpha, beta, or gamma? Do the symbols go out before you have to move to the positions? It looks like it all happens at once based on your animations, so how does MT and H2 know where to go? In other words, you need a symbol to determine exactly where to be, but the symbols appear to go out when you already need to be in position. What am I missing? I watched that section over and over and over and could not understand. EDIT: To be clear, Hector says, "H2 looks to Alpha and Beta to see which one they skip." What is H2 actually looking for?
@HectorHectorson
@HectorHectorson 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry if that bit wasn't clear. At the beginning of HC1, 3 players get colours (the short timer alpha, beta, gamma). 2 of those combine to make a creature and soak towers. The third is unused and remains. This is the letter you skip. For example, in my guide, alpha and beta combine together at first, with gamma being unused. This is why the player with the 2-stack knows to skip gamma. You can just look at who doesn't combine together, but if you're too focused on the mechanics, afterwards, the unused player will still have colours above their head. Whichever colour combo they have, that's which one you're skipping.
@herbreisig553
@herbreisig553 2 жыл бұрын
@@HectorHectorson Thanks! That makes sense for remembering which symbol was skipped. But the situation you described if you're too focused on the mechanics and forgot, you said "Whichever color combo they have, that's which one you're skipping." What am I comparing that to? Because it seems that the color combos go out when you already have to be in place. Maybe I'm missing something simple and just have to see it in the fight, but I'm not understanding that step based on your description both in the video and here.
@HectorHectorson
@HectorHectorson 2 жыл бұрын
Ah I get you. While first towers are being soaked, one player is uncombined and will still have colours above their head. Look at their colour combo, specifically the dominant colour (the one with an outline). If it's red, skip alpha If it's yellow, skip beta If it's brown, skip gamma This happens about 10s before you have to get in to position for 2nd explosions. Hope this helps!

no joke, what data center did you get these strats from? cause this isn't remotely what pf is doing and is only going to fuck people over more who were close to clearing.

Yeah there is going to be alot of conflict for this phase in party finder this week for no reason. I'm pretty sure it's because his guide is so late compared to the others, he made it different purely for the sake of being different. So that it doesn't look like he copied someone. Like copying someone's homework but changing a few words around.

I showed the strat my group uses. They're only suggestions. If you prefer to stick with other existing strats in PF, just say so in the description.

I think it’s true that this might make pf more confusing but honestly I’ve always found Hector’s strats extremely efficient and generally respects uptime. And While Hector’s guides tend to be a bit later I feel like it’s a combination of him trying to post the best strategy that he can think of, explaining every part of the mechanic as precise as possible, and obviously the animation. The amount of time spent on an animation video like this and someone narrating over a PoV is obviously gonna be different. Personally, Hector’s guides are by far the ones that I prefer since I want to understand every part of a mechanic and why I can’t do certain things. Keep up the great videos Hector!!

@@threenotesoddity because it adds so many more factors that can go wrong. You want people in pf trying to aim they’re gaze at an add while avoiding someone else? Having the gaze always just rotate in front of the add (like you’ve been doing the entire fight) just makes way more sense.

Hector publishes the strats exactly as in pf -> people complain about strats not being optimized and him publishing the guide too early Hector waits for some time and publishes more optimized strats -> people complain about publishing the guide too late and it not being the same as in pf It's an unwinnable situation at this point :/

The people who have cleared to this point probably don't care, the people who are progging have a responsibility to adapt according to what the leader post on PF or just simply don't join if they don't agree. Personally i'm not to worried about the chaotic state of week 1/month 1 guides, they will solidify their place on PF soon enough, plus a majority of players currently haven't even started doing this tier yet, their progging will go much smoother once things settle down.

i dont see how is hector's NA more optimized. And so far, none of the strat that pf used are actually invented by him. The timer cache1, the jp death, the spriggan snake. Hector's guide is good bcz it has better presentation, not bcz of his strat.

@@hx611 It's not about him "inventing" a strat, but rather publishing his guide while including the optimized strats from the very beginning. The 1-tile NA strat is more optimized because Scripe/Echo/Rinon NA can be a pain to heal due to the party being spread far apart, while 1-tile NA fixes that problem.

@@trolly1834 Never ever had i meet a healer complaining about healing in NA. Only maybe about healing in NA2 with stack or spread, but even with the 2tile spread people are still in range of every healing spell. I really cant see any optimization here other than doing a other strat than pf did until now. Also with 1 Tile NA players have to move way more than with the 2 tile strat, which makes the risk higher to get clipped by someone positioning to late.

@@ShadowHunter31 No, im a realist. I spend way to much time in pf to know what kind of strats party finder is capable of doing and what it isn’t. We just don’t like to waste anymore time than we already do in pf, just because of barely thought out strats. But now it doesn’t matter anyway, since the Raid tier is out so long.
