the origin of Jollyjeep is that they are literally Jeepnies parked in makati CBD parking lots converted to food stalls or carinderia type eateries. since food stall are not allowed sa mga parking lots, yung mga creative na mga vendors eh nagtinda sila gamit mga jeeps to sell foods so they can park legally to sell foods. and later on, yung local government ng makati, they gave the sellers an better looking food stalls, so they phased out the jeeps with a true bue food stalls. so ngayon wala na syang mga jeeps and makikita nyo na ngayon eh mga typical carinderia looking food stalls sa parking lots pa rin ng makati cbd.

That is where exactly I was working in the Philippines 20 years ago before I immigrated to the USA!🇺🇸 Business District… affluent… corporate with a lot of regular worker foods available especially during lunch time.. the Jollyjeep… where you can get home cooked Filipino food at reasonable price! But during payday 💵, splurge on real high end food at Greenbelt and Glorietta! I MISS THE PHILIPPINES! 🇵🇭😢

There's a Mang Tootz branch along San Agustin Street. Along Valero, you should have tried the Beef Pepper Rice at Grub Shack/Chili Peppers. Suki Gyouza and Gringo's somewhere in Dela Rosa are also good. Other good restaurants are actually inside food courts of buildings like Ayala Tower One, PBCom and Enterprise Towers. There are also some good food along the covered walkway from Makati Med to Greenbelt, like House of Lasagna. There are pricier ones like XO Bistro, and Tinong Bahru in Valero, and La Creperie near Salcedo Park.

That place is very memorable to me, I remember doing all the non-sense job hunting It was a cruel day for another average filipino fresh graduate struggling to find meaning in life and to realize that business areas just a design everyone in all those places where "recruitment" is happening basically there's nothing there they're all packed and that the purpose of those visits are just to find out if there's anyone unique and extremely intelligent that they could hire, literally recruiters are in heaven and they're just about to offer the most selfish contracts they could offer even to those who are well qualified Makati is an absolute exploitation of young intelligent people they filtered out from the other millions of average young people.

Not sure if I missed it in your video @Jessica Lee, but they were called JolliJeeps because before most of them actually started as real jeeps. They park in certain back alleys of buildings where they sell food and beverages. After an entire day, they leave and come back the next day. Some jeeps though due to old age became a permanent fixture in the streets. It was about 15-20 years ago that city government provided them stalls eventually.

In mid-80s while applying for work there, the Jollijeeps are really jeeps where you eat inside the jeep or outside with a countertop where you eat. The food was so good especially the adobo, beef/pork steak, menudo, fried porkchop, etc. And the cost was just around 8 to 10 pesos for a complete meal with softdrink/soda.

I feel bad for those food place that were not chosen because you said some place is much better. If you know what I mean? Even you don’t like them some customers do! Also that, you asked other’s favorite then chose your own! Why not ask yourself where to eat and chose your fave?
