Thanks very much for checking out The ACS Library. Today's video further expands on weather products.
All information for this video was gathered from FAA Advisory Circular 00-45H: Aviation Weather Services.
We cover Low-Level Significant Weather Prognostic Charts (Not "SignifiCAT". Please excuse my typo). These charts depict forecasted weather flying categories, turbulence, and freezing level information affecting the Continental US as an easy-to-read, color-coded graphical rendering.
Prog Charts are a great supplementary flight tool and should be a companion to any METAR's, TAF's or AIRMET's in the area.

Thank you for watching!

I am getting ready to do the knowledge test. I am close to complete my stage 2 PPL. Your videos have connected a lot of dots. Thank you for your great, objective and factual content.

Very good explanation. The problem I've always had with these charts is I never did understand why the valid times were spaced so far apart. 12 and 24 hours is okay but you'd think we would want to know what's happening in between, like 3 6 and 9 hours. Its funny when even the FAA admits "this chart isn't that good, use something better like TAFs".

Justin Smith hahah I’ve always had the same feelings about weather products. I’ve had a 7AM checkride where the DPE asked me to fill out a nav log for a flight departing at 4PM. It was weird looking up weather the night before for a flight that was departing nearly a full day later. Winds ended up being I think 12 kts higher than forecasted😂
