PA Opening Day of Trout Season 2020!! | Massive Palominos, Brook Trout and Rainbows! (PB Brookie)

Pa opening day was nuts. I landed this 22 in brookie on a powerbait worm, lost a monster golden rainbow, and got a few other size-able brook trout and rainbows. Love people that release the big ones. I caught a big palomino and 2 big rainbows last year on opening day and I released them all. Then went back to the same spot where I released the big rainbow in the fall and he was still there.

Looks like a lake trout. Gotta love PA. From where I live we got class a trout streams to Lake Erie tributaries for steelhead, salmon, and giant brown trout. All within a 50 mile radius.

If you’re fishing keystone select waters I’m pretty sure they are all artificial lures only and delayed harvest. You can’t keep fish out of them till summer plus they are open all year round to fish. They also through in much nicer plus more nice trout in keystone select waters vs a regular area.

@@aaronsmith9030 I believe you are right about the regs. I haven't checked them all, or looked for the hard and fast policy. However, I know the few streams that I did look into had those regs. Unfortunately, not all of the streams are cold enough, so one of the ones I fish, by June 15th, those fish are almost toast out in the warmer water.

Tight Lining MD yeah. Trout don’t do well in warm water. A lot of times they will seek out under ground springs or mountain creeks the dump into the main creek. I’d you can find those in the summer you will usually find a bunch of trout stacked on them. I’ve caught a lot of trout that way in the middle of summer. And for the people who say that is stressful on a trout I use to keep them and put them into a pond fed by a mountain creek and they did just fine.

Brook trout was not close to 22” or 5 lb but still nice for a brookie. My fiancé and I caught 4 goldens about 18” and a couple nice browns last year on the first day

Try running that pink worm up a Aberdeen hook size 10 with a split shot 18 to 20 in away works for me every time

Congrats on the pb brook trout, really impressive stuff! For a while I didnt realize that the pink power worms can catch multiple species of trout but after catching a wild brown trout on one and seeing you catch a stud brook trout, it’s good to see that they have some versatility

I'll always remember a vid i watched of a guy fishing steelhead. He cleaned one on the edge of the river, opening it's stomach and placing the contents on a rock, piece by piece. Every single thing that fish had in it's belly was pink. I know pink is wicked for trout, yet i have never seen anything pink in the water, except shrimp.

That is an artificial dude. If you didn’t know that is a powerbait WORM which is made of plastic. It is made by Berkley which also makes powerbait, but the worms are not the dough bait.
