PA Opening Day Trout Fishing 2023! (GOLDEN RAINBOW)

The 2023 trout season is finally here in Pennsylvania! Even though the weather was miserable, the fish didn't seem to mind! Fished several spots throughout the day and managed to catch a ton. Later in the day I tried my hand at catching the iconic golden rainbow trout/palomino trout! Hope you enjoy :)

Amazing catch. I got my limit the first day. I fished in klingerstown. I caught them all on my fly rod using a pheasant tail nymph. nothing below 12 inches.

Nice catch man, that golden was a beauty! When nymphing I would suggest using a small strike indicator or a tightline rig, this makes it a lot easier to detect strikes. Tight lines🎣🤙🏾

Thank you! I definitely should have been using an indicator, I figured it might spook the fish cause I only had bright orange and yellow ones and it was so shallow. Picked up some clear bubble indicators on the way home for next time

@@TheMasterCaster alternatively to an indicator, you can use a dry fly with a dropper tied off of it. It is extremely effective and can sometimes lead to dry strikes as well, but it can be more challenging because you can't adjust depth as easily as with an indicator. However you choose to do it, good luck!

Hook looked to be from the outside to the inside of the mouth on the opposite side than you were standing is usually a tell tail sign of a flossed fish

Nice fish! I didn't catch anything after we fished below the dam. Was that fish in the creek we started at or no? Honestly, you didn't try to outright floss the first pali, so count it. Nice second pali too.

Wow! that first pond had no one there! Crazy to think that its PENNSILVANIA on OPENING DAY. Also the fish were pretty picky for being just stocked. They are acting like they got stocked almost a month ago! Anyways, nice video. Also I caught my PB rainbow today, 23 inch, 5lb broodstock.

@@TheMasterCaster Oh yeah buddy your right on there and pa is crazy with that . I fished a delayed harvest earlier this year so many ppl using scented bait Which is illegal ! Power bait anything is illegal ! Artificial (unscented ) is fine . Freaky franks worms or trout magnets allowed . I seen so much illegal activity you would think it was a joke. Powerbait works everywhere on bank seen ppl using them . Like where is the dnr or whatever they are called up there lol 😂
