You say the actors are forced in to this. But is that the mistake of the hosts. They clearly knew the host’s niche and nature of the interview and came. I do not agree with this as the roast done by wit is very less offensive compared to what AIB did with Ranveer and Arjun or the comedy central roast of Beiber or Trump Roast are supposed to be insulting and I recall a part of Pete Davisons dad who died in 9/11 being insulted. The idea of the show is supposed to that and the panel of people who come are informed before hand also. Of course certain names such as "vaanam", then "aasanam kaanikku" and all could have been avoided. but the reality is actual roasts are much filthier. An Indian example for this is the AIB Roast on Ranveer and Arjun Kapoor. Kurachude international level poyaal, Russel Peters inte okke roast kettaal ividuthe aalkkaar karanju pokum. What I think is we as a society is still not ready for actual roast comedy, because innately we dont believe in absolute freedom of expression and we tend to get offended easily. and also the makers of this video should have made it clear of they have taken the consent of Abu Saalim to include him in this conversation.

Bro...the Roast genre of comedy is where the jokes are at the expense of one being roasted (roastee). It is genuinely insult comedy and can be extremely insulting, mocking and demeaning - sometimes vulgar as well. The roastee is coming prepared to face the jokes and insults and mockery. By coming for a roast, he/she has agreed to be a sport. The only difference between what is done in WIT and actual roast is - In a roast, every participant will get an opportunity to roast the rest of the participants. Here in WIT, it is one way communication. Chooral team tried to give it back - but they were too subdued. In India, I have seen only one genuine roast video - at that time, it raised a lot of eyebrows and if I am not wrong, the original video was taken down - it was SO ABUSIVE and INSULTING but the participants were very good sports. I happened to see some overseas roasts and dare I say, the AIB one looked so "paavam" :D
