Dick, you are right, if your wheels are up, pitot heat should be on. I was flying a C-172 at 5000 and mine froze...IAS went down to 60kt and then 46kt. It was barely 40 degrees and there was moisture in the air.From that moment on, it is on my checklist. Hold Short line = Pitot Heat on.

Thank you for your comment, cmdmd. You are absolutely right. Lots of part 91 pilots in the US have not been given any training at all on flight into known icing (FIKI). The PA46 is often the first FIKI equipped aircraft that this pilot has flown. Without proper training bad habits are formed. Unfortunately it is possible to fly many hours in a PA46 without proper training on the use of FIKI equipment, but safety is not about probability, it is about consequences.

Under normal conditions , why would the ecs switch or bleed air valve be off? Some checklists or flows can create busy work for pilots!

The turbine aircraft needs all of the air going through the engine to minimize the start temperature. This means closing off the inflow so that all of the air goes through the engine. For this reason, the checklist calls for inflow out off and ECS off for engine start. Fly Safely - Train Often .. DR

The overlay of the ATC sound into recording is annoying. Is there a way the ATC sound could be shut off from recording your voiceover. Great video as usual and thanks for sharing.
