Nice flight. You young guys and your beautiful planes! I like how prior to, in flight and at the end you touch switches, panels, knobs, etc. to know they're in the right setting. That takes a thorough understanding of your plane. Well done.

Due to the Covid-19 situation, I am spending more time on the ground these days. If anyone has any questions about the plane or my trips, I would love to answer them in a comment or another video. Let me know! Be safe!

Love them just do not understand why they didn't just engineer 20 more lbs. of aluminum to allow for another few hundred lb. of useful load.

Nice video. Beautiful airplane. How hard is it for a beginner pilot or not even a pilot yet, to learn how to fly this airplane?

Isn’t this too noisy in the cabin? It should be quieter as this isn't a piston engine.

What is the cost per hour when figuring all fixed cost (hanger, fuel, tire/brake wear, annual etc.) Also, I noticed you where cruising @ 140 KIAS. Is that a low power setting to conserve fuel or is the Meridian that slow? That seems to be Cessna 182RG speeds. Lastly, is the A/C good enough to keep the plane comfortable when operating in a sub-tropical environment?

This Meridian is currently operated on a Canadian registration and therefore is subjected to 100hr inspections instead of just an annual. So you'd be looking at $600 - $700 / hr while operating under Canadian regulations. If this was N registered and operated under FAA part 91, you could just do the annual which would offer some savings on the operating costs. But without owning an N registered Meridian, I can't speak too much about the costs in that scenario. As far as the speed goes, most of the cruise portion of the flight was cut off from the video, but this was a short, low power, low altitude flight. Vne is 188 KIAS in the Meridian, so it could be flown at that speed when at the lower altitudes in smooth air. When we are cruising at FL 270 or FL 280, we typically see ~160 KIAS and 255 - 260 KTAS @ ~245 lbs/hr. On the A/C, if you're sitting on the ground in the plane and it's 100º F outside, the A/C will blow cold, but not cold enough to make a huge difference in the cabin temp. This is my opinion and experience. Other operators may have different experiences or opinions. For a 6 seat, turbine, pressurized aircraft, it is very affordable and economical to operate.

Thanks, it's a super airplane. What kind of business do you have to have to warrant a Meridian purchase? Please leave a message for Pilot Mark S. at Keller Williams Realty, Naples, Florida. Thx.

Hi there! We are thinking to buy m500 2015, does is worth it? Or should we better get 2008 meridian wi avydine ? Please let me know. Thanks.

The biggest difference between the 2008 Meridian and the 2015 (M500 generation) aircraft is primarily the avionics. There will be some other minor/subtle differences between the two, but from a performance point of view you are working with the same aircraft. Your operating or variable costs will be essentially identical, but the biggest difference will be the purchase price. If you value G1000 avionics package above the Avidyne, then you may find the cost premium of the M500 worth it. Remember too that a 2008 Meridian has depreciated close to its bottom whereas the 2015 M500 still has a fair amount depreciation room. So that's another thing to factor in a decision between the two. With my experience being really only in the Meridian, I can say it has been a very reliable aircraft and has a very high dispatch rate. We haven't had any issues with the Avidyne panels and it is a very capable avionics package. There is no doubt that any Meridian/M500 is an amazing value for the money and going with an older model increases that value even further!

Why did you tow it away from the hanger to light up just curious
@MrLincMer

If there were no other options, I would start it. But, I try to avoid adding unnecessary short cycles to the battery. An engine start creates a massive drain on the battery and to run it for a couple min during the taxi isn't the best for the battery and potentially other systems as well.

I think they towed it to the fuel pad. Did not show that in the video. Makes sense not to start up the PT6 just to taxi a short distance then shut down.

what does the friction + lever do?
@MrLincMer
@MrLincMer 4 жыл бұрын
Bravo11-A The friction adjustment lever has a (-) below it as well. By adjusting the friction lever forward or backward, it allows you to increase or decrease the tightness of the power lever. An example of why you’d want to tighten the power lever control is if you’re in turbulence, you could accidentally bump the power lever which could cause the engine to surge which could cause undue stress on various engine components like the prop governor or torque limiter. To reduce this chance, the friction lever allows us to tighten up the power lever so it’s not easy to move.
