I bought my Kampilan from an antique seller in the US for $700. May nakalagay pa na 1cent sa may hilt dated 1901. May bakal na grill din just like yours. But yours look way better though with the intricate Okir design on the pommel. I’m jealous.

Very informative and you're actually right, kasi the last time na nagka gangwar kami dati sa Mindanao (2011ish) naalala ko dati may Maranao na nagdala ng kampilan and it was totally accurate.

Greetings po sir, palagi po ako nanunood mga bago nyo vlog. May tanong lang po ako sir, may nabili po ako na weapon rack na japanese yung lalagyan po ng katana 😁 4 layers/tier po xa, then i had this in mind to start collecting blade that somewhat represent luzon visayas mindanao 😁 ang tanong ko po ano po bang 3 na blade mai rerecomend nyo po na pde idagdag?? May dahon palay na po ako nakasabit so 3 nlang po kulang.. (may kamahalan din po pala yung ibang blade natin sa pinas 😆) yun lang po more power po sa inyo 🙌

maestro yuli romo is knowledgeable in handling a kampilan sir he have various demo showing how to wield a kampilan..how to handle a kampilan also translates later on how to fight empty hand... part of bahad zubu technique....by the way, traditionally the spike at the revese side of the blade was used to pick up the decapitated head

hmm, the spike on my antique kampilan is too thin, parang hindi kayang tumusok at pickup ng decapitated head.

I've always assumed the spike at the back was to prevent the blade from going into the flesh too deep by acting as a stopper when thrusting with the sword to prevent the tip being caught and stuck in the muscle or bone thereby causing the weapon to be wrenched from your hand.

Panabas is The the original sword of muslim and the snake sword, not the kampilan. because its already used by tribes in northern and southern luzon excavated by archeologist with baybayin letters on the hand guards of kampilan, it's originated in Visayas which according to history its used by lapulapu and his men. Infact Lapu lapu is Visayan tribe leader during the battle of mactan in 1521 a chieftain. then the muslims adopted the weapon kampilan because of its integrity, lapu lapu and homabon are not muslims that is just exaggerations and ilogic, they are tribes man. Because if they already muslim then raja humabon will not allow him self to be converted into catholic.and if the kampilan originated in mindanao why it's started in visayas and luzon according to archeologist.the muslim at that time 1521 are not usually in visayas and luzon, they can always be found in mindanao to south of malaysia and brunei at that time according to history. Visayan tribes has a record of often attacks of muslim tribe in their territory, they call them dwalo-dwalo at that time in tagalog "mangugulo".
