yes kampilan in tagalog is sword while knife is called kampit, but now we used spanish word for sword espada and knife kutsilyo.
@khust2993
@khust2993 3 жыл бұрын
If you look at Spanish-era dictionaries like Vocabulario de la Lengua Tagala, there are more terms for blades actually. Calis was the term for sword (espada), while campilan for cutlass (el alfanje). Then itak (itac) is synonymous with gulok (goloc) and sundang (sondang). Then words for blades with more specific uses like binacoco, campit, pisao, bonong, calumpagui, caros/carot, hiuas, pungi, bonong, panata, panalip, tiar, ganal (punyal), palang and so forth were included. Even Japanese sword can be found as 'catana' in that Tagalog-Spanish dictionary.

4:13 Can you imagine having to run across a region in a loincloth with a satchel filled with these opponent specific weapon types just so the in game map enemies know you have the proper attack element equip able to vanquish them? Instead of the starter pack gun or trainer sword they expect you to ruin your in world K/D ratio? What else but in video games would a peoples train each other to carry multiple types because of unseen property/logic/ledger reasons within the in game map other than just slaying. These designs are all over JRPGs too it seems.

I would just like to say that Filipino pronunciation is very straightforward, and very syllabic. How vowels are pronounced hardly ever change even when put together with consonants. In fact, Filipino pronunciation is almost as syllabic as the Japanese Language(we also share the same pronunciation), although we Filipinos spell consonants and vowels separately. So, to improve on your video, you should try pronouncing those words again by associating the vowel sound and not changing it even if you use it with other letters. For example in your pronunciation of the word, "Dahon", the "a" and "o" vowels seem to sound too similar.

balaraw is just a general term, it can be found in dictionaries of languages in Mindanao up to Luzon. You could say the same with talibong, kampilan, kalis, kampit, etc. all of it are just general terms, hence they can look different depending on the ethnic group.
