Argentina should get this plane, it's affordable and competitive. It's not gonna be exactly like an F-16 but for sure it'd be much better than 40 year old Kfir's or F-1's as they have been mentioned in the news about Argentina negotiations. You are right. If u r affordable, jf-17 can come with 800 t/r units AESA, a head mounted display, full digital FBW system, a better ws-13 engine for more thrust. But this will cost around 40-50 mil per piece, although still 50% cheaper than the latest f-16 aesa versions.

JF 17 Block 1 is a 4th Gen Jet & is almost equal to F-16 block 52 in Performance. But Block 2(4+ Generation Jet) is equal to F-16 block 60 in performance in some term it is better than F-16 block 60. Now, Pakistan has developed JF 17B which is dual seat variant with AESA RADAR which is much better than any f-16 and is comparable with 4.5 Generation Jet. In 2018-19 Pakistan will unveil JF 17 Thunder Block 3( 4++ Generation Jet) in this jet Pakistan is using the technology of chines J-31(5th Generation Jet) this Jet will be near to 5th Generation Jet in term of Technology & Performance. A Good Thing about JF 17 THUNDER is that this Jet is 1/3rd at the price of its competitors.

ROCKEYT Well, Block 3 would be far more upgraded than Block 2. It'd have an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, Helmet Mounted Display and Sight (HMD/S) system, and possibly an additional hard-point suitable for specialized targeting and tracking pods, along with upgraded EW/ECM suite. It'd also use 5th generation AAMs like PL-10 and A-Darter (if its development is done). It'd also be a two seater aircraft. But hey, you have a point. Talking is easy. I guess we'd just have to wait and see it for ourselves :)

Mokimanify actually they can, they don't want to, very little potential to extract from AL31. china has completed reverse engineering the spey,, they are going US/UK route. They will probably have a F110 equivalent in 5 years, then F119 and F135 somewhere around 10 years from now.

Tan Umeshu pakistan will get a good deal when it can afford J-10, and hope for a better engine when that day comes. It's so stupid though. Your comment about the "smoke tail" shows you have not much knowledge in air flight physics. That "smoke trail: is called contrail, or vapour trail in common language, and it has got nothing to do with the engine of the plane. It is caused by very significant difference between hot air and cold air causing vapours to form. It usually happens when the jet flies at very high altitude where the air is very cold up there and the hot air being discharged from the exhaust causes vapourisation. In this particular video you can see that dark clouds were looming at the height at which the jet is flying, which meant that the air was relatively cold there. When the afterburner is switched on the heat coming out of the exhaust is amplified causing vapour trails if the surrounding air is cold. You will note that the so called "smoke trail" you mentioned did not happen all the time, it only happens when the pilot went full throttle and afterburner is on (to produce higher thrust and power).
