Nice work guy's, what I have done is find some of the same water pump bolts. Cut the heads off the bolts. Then cut a groove with a die grinder say a 1/8 of inch. Just enough to get a stubby flat bed screwdriver to thread them in the holes of the block to use them as alignment studs. I slip on the new pump on the studs and take one stud at a time use the original bolts to reinstall the pump and this way you don't have to fight getting it mounted up.

I work on garbage trucks. That engine is a good over the road truck but from my experience most guys including me struggle with repairs on those truck. Discharge line for instance a common issue is bracketed down to top of Trans and connects to a metal pipe that wraps around and bolts down to top of air compressor. Depends on truck it's either under body or under cab, have fun getting them off when they clog up and truck won't build air pressure. I'm 140 lbs skinny as .... so I can get of quick and easy but most guys are tiny and can't fit. Garbage truck front loads usually have a service lift to raise the body which makes it super easy, if the lift isn't trashed which they almost always are.

Grease works well on that type of gasket too.It is cheaper to fix a leak than ignore them burning up an expensive engine.I have seen engines burned up all because of leaks ignored

I was going to mention a cool: tool called a coolant lift pump, it’s great for checking your coolant system with a vacuum before you have to refill the system, also you can actually refill the system with the tool instead of putting in the jugs or putting in the original coolant. Google it or KZbin it, it’s a pretty neat tool. Helps avoid airlocks.

My coolant temp sticks at 165F, Warm but not warm enough Can tell somethings is forcing the Thermostat to run at Cooling mode. Truck runs fine no check emgine light but its annoying when your cruising on the rolling hills when its time to get a hard pull engine is Luke warm. I thinking it may be my coolant temp sensor or thermostat. I have a 2015MX13 500/1850 mounted on a long nose pete. Could this just be the Ambient temp in that bay because its has all the room in there to fit another mx13 and big grill sucking in cold air? 🤣 Your advise will be greatly appreciated and will save me time before I even think about pulling parts here and there. 😇

I got all the way to pulling out the water pump, and couldn't get it pass the fan blades, only needed half inch but couldn't get it out so ended up putting it back together with it still leaking, T-700 Kenworth, wasted day.
@Wytchdoctor774 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem on my T700. What I ended up doing was using a Milwaukee rotary tool to grind out a gap on one of the fan blades, big enough to allow the pump to clear. Took about 5 minutes.
@mcombuster2 жыл бұрын
Then when your air compressor goes have fun getting those inside mounting bolts off of the starter and air compressor. You also have to pull the fuel pump it's mounted on front of starter. There's a lot that can wrong there to. The air compressor has a oil tube thing I don't remember what it's called but it goes in side ways thru the compressor into the engine and to get an Allen head on it in between the compressor and frame is horrible it's a real tight spot. I watched 3 mechanics combined 30 years xp break that compressor off the truck because of that stem. Then the truck sat for a week while they tried to figure out how to get that stem. It's always a Paccar, waiting for parts. Mack, bam they are there that day or next day. That's my experience with them. They are good over the road trucks, but horrible garbage trucks. We have one that stalls out sometimes twice a day and rush has "fixed" it like 6 times for the same thing it will go out the very next day and do the same thing after they "fix" it, I'm not exaggerating. Rush is a Peterbuilt certified dealer if I'm correct, all the Pete's we get have paccar mx13 or whatever they. I had one I did a pm and oil change on 2 years ago. Cabbed it over and the cab cylinders took a sheet and it wouldn't cab back over then after oil change it wouldn't start and nobody could figure it they had to call rush. It sat in a bay for week broke the phuck down and it's a defect with the fuel filter it would do it sometimes after a filter change. I can't remember but it sucked bad. Flooded the bay with dookie juice and sat for a week like that.
