I'm pretty happy you were born; otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten this sorely needed, absolutely hilarious depiction of Pacey's utter annoyance with, and total disdain for Dawson's cry-baby...everything's-a-movie personification. It's gross. The thing with Pacey, is that he was HONESTY. Sure, Dawson was honest a lot on the show - but always had less to lose by being honest. Pacey had to put everything on the line when he was being honest...in EVERY situation. He was the underdog, the guy destined to fail...at everything. He was set up for failure. Dawson, well the show was named after his character, HE was destined to win. Pacey is my favorite character. He is the most relatable, he is the most ballsy, courageous...and to me, the most compassionately-written character of the entire show. But I digress, Pacey hating on Dawson for over 3 minutes straight is the highlight of my day. Admittedly, I've only just ended season 4, and I'm about 20 yrs late to the game...but somehow, I think Pacey is the star of this show, and, well, I wouldn't bet against that Witter boy...

However, this is a domestic drama grounded in reality, meaning the truth is in the middle. These are two flawed teen/College age boys who were classmates & good friends as little kids, then grew up and changed and realised they have incompatible/clashing personalities and goals and views on the world, as well as separate personal struggles and toxic traits (yes, Pacey has the latter as well). It's normal, happens irl all the time. It doesn't make one party pure evil.

So I'm sure I have a completely different perspective. What's really funny is I decided to watch it because I loved everything I had seen James and Katie in. Never paid much attention to Mighty Ducks, so was basically the first time watching Joshua Jackson act, and he blew me away. Still love James, but his character as Dawson was a bit annoying. 😆 I still liked him, and he played his role well. I also thought hiss acting was so much better when he was performing with people older than him. IMO Joshua was able to act well with everyone. Ok, I'm done 😆

I didn’t watch this show when it originally came on, but I did a full series binge a few months ago and I don’t know if it’s because I’m in my 30’s and too old for the target audience or because of the character, but I really did not like Dawson. He was whiny, annoying, acted like he was sooo much better than everyone else, and extremely judgmental. Almost from the beginning of the series, I found Pacey to be the more interesting and lovable character. And his character growth during the Andie relationship was amazing to watch.

@@az21bob666 Honestly I dont think most Pacey fans overlook the more negative things he's done. It's just that (at least for me) even when he does something not too great, I still understand where he's coming from. To me, Pacey is just a more sympathetic character than Dawson. And as for when he and Joey broke up, yeah that wasn't a good way for Pacey to have handled things. But, he did apologize and take full responsibility for his actions in the next episode, and he explained why he acted the way he did. Doesn't make it right, but it makes it understandable and, to me, forgivable. Most people's issues with Dawson stem from his inability to take responsibility for his negative actions. He differs blame and even when he apologizes he still tries to turn things around so it isn't his fault (like in the beginning of season 6 when Dawson and Joey slept together, but he neglected to tell her that he had a girlfriend until after, and then blamed her for being upset). But that's just how I see it. You don't, and that's fine, but that doesn't mean you need to try starting arguments in the comment section.

Nothing is worse and hurts more than finding out someone is faking being your friend only out of convenience or some other advantage to them. Dawson was admittedly an annoying, entitled, whiny Nice Guy who never learned. But if Pacey disliked Dawson so much and found him irritating--justifiably--why did he continue to hang out with him? Because Dawson's family are affluent with a nice house & a boat? Because Dawson is close to Joey, the girl Pacey likes? Because Dawson does well in school? Whatever the reason was, it doesn't reflect well on Pacey that he never told Dawson the truth about not liking him and never had the balls to cut ties. Even Dawson, awful as he could be at times, deserved more than Pacey's fake 'friendship'. And this is why I have never bought into the 'Pacey was the Hero' prop.

Dawson's main issue--he was only truly in love with the art of film and was fundamentally asexual/asocial, but in the '90s that was not an accepted way to be, like it is now. Dawson wasn't built for romantic relationships or a clique, he was at his happiest and most fulfilled working in the movie biz and living on his own.

Dawson was the one practically shoving Joey and Pacey together all of season three. Pacey never stole Joey from anyone. She and Dawson didn't work out, so she moved on and found somebody else. It's really as simple as that. And, Dawson only asked Pacey what was going on between them once, and at the time Pacey hadn't fully realized his feelings for her, so there was nothing to tell. And, even if Dawson had asked about it later on, at that point Pacey never planned on acting on his feelings for Joey (because he didn't think she felt the same way), so why would he have brought it up? What good would that have done? And, when they did get together they were going to tell Dawson (there was even a whole episode dedicated to it. And, before they got together, but after they kissed, Pacey tried telling Dawson but it didn't pan out). Joey was seconds away from telling Dawson when he chose to emotionally manipulate her into chickening out, just so he could have his "how dare you not tell me" moment a few minutes later. I really don't know why you feel the need to start arguments like this under my vid. Obviously anyone watching it is a Pacey fan and not going to agree with your viewpoints. You could always find a Dawson-centric video to watch and comment your opinions there.
