I enjoy your wildflower close-ups! Lovely! The corn lilies are amazing - a stalk full of intricate individual flowers. The diversity as the forest recovers is beautiful! Thank you!

The white flowers on the stalk are officially California false hellebores, but they’re also known as the California corn lily. They are common in newly burned areas as a pioneer species that can grow without the trees blocking sunlight. The light purple flower that looks like a daisy is actually a purple aster.

Loved the star pic, really good!! Wonder how the bears know to stop at the border?!? So the entire width of Lassen forest you were in was scorched?! Watch the headbanging, damage can occur. 😂 Great distance today!

So happy you shared this video of the back country of LVP. I hiked through there a few years ago before the fire so was interested in how it looked after. It’s such a great park so if you happen to come back to the area you enjoy checking out the main road and the great hikes throughout the park.

Another totally awesome video on life on PCT! I like the wild mountain flowers and the Western Tanager (yellow bird) Thank you! 😊

Cool!!! Western Tanager's are the most brightly colored birds one is likely to see in the intermountain west!! Loving the views... Sometimes fire-killed trees are harvested as part of a post-fire restoration project, but if you are still in the Lassen Volcanic National Park, there won't be any chopping down of burned tress except to address safety issues (standing dead trees can become dangerous for people who are around them). While cutting down fire-killed trees for their commercial value is more likely on National Forest or BLM land, it's not nearly as common as it used to be and you won't see much of that sort of thing along the PCT

at 9:50 there were Oregon Checkerbloom (Sidalcea) - I believe - by the small creek. I'm loving the b roll you have been taking over the past few videos. You are becoming so intentional with your video. Much appreciated!

Wanna know what happens to the burned trees? Look at Yellowstone NP. They had a big fire in the 80's and the forest is recovering. They will not be logged. They are called widow makers because you never know when one will fall on you.

3:25 Milkweed? 4:00 Western Tanager... we had one knock itself silly against a window a few weeks ago... Thankfully it flew off after about 45 minutes 🙂

Though not very stylish or cheap at $40, I love the Sunday Afternoons Adventure Hats. They're lightweight, breathe well, and give much better sun protection that a baseball cap. Happy trails guys and congrats on your first 30 day!

The trees burnt but the Mules Ear (nature’s TP) is doing well. Hope u got a look at the volcanic stuff enroute.

If you’re in the park, the burned trees will likely remain. Western Tanangers are the yellowish birds. Awesome!

Lassen is indeed bear country. We camped at Manzinita Lake. Humphrey the bear (named by the rangers) circled our tent one night but when he didn't find any food, he continued on a few campsites, found a man with a cooler, stole and cooler and feasted. Unfortunately, some idiot threw a hammer at him. Fortunately, Humphrey did not attack anyone despite the hammer incident. But beware if you visit. Not all bears are so accommodating. Enjoy the beauty.

Lassen NP was full of snow on my ‘19 trek. Would have had to hike into the night, but lucked out and found a guy at upper twin lake who had a bv500 with only one dinner in it and let me stash my food in his can. That also allowed me to go see the geysers on my second day.

That's my first view of Lassen NP since the fire. With the drastically increased heat in N Cal, some of these forests will not return to their previous state, and will instead become more arid ecological zones. Those charred trees will most likely be left as is through the transitions.

Do you ever ask yourself? Why No Cal keeps all the burnt areas? When you get to Washington if you aren’t just “trying to do miles” you might actually hear and see it.

@@hope2someday691 no your right on when this hiker was killed and his name. I watched their videos of their hike the pct on KZbin .
